Does anyone have any comments on http://www.webdirectorybid.com/ ? Yesterday I posted a link in the number one spot for $850. 10 minutes later it was no longer on the front page and was exactly in the 11th spot with all the other 10 sites bid $1 higher each. I then upped my bid to $867, and what do you know, 10 minutes later the same exact thing happened. Are they manipulating their advertisements to try and get new bidders to continue to up there bids? Whats going on. They would not respond to my emails Brian
I believe you already got that answer here... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=3885110&postcount=6
do you think that they are going to lose their pr7 backlink for a few $?bid a 100 more and someone from the top ten will normaly dont follow....i guess... also with such a lot of money you should invest it to get a strong pr7 or 8 backlink for a year!or a permanent if you were able to close a good deal!
That might be the case. They would like you to bid higher.. I think in this pr update all bid directories will be lower pr just like what happened to dollarlink site.
That's why I don't submit to bidding directories. Not just for the scam possibility, but because it's too much money with no guarantee of being on that page. I stick with regular directories.
But why do the bids go up immediately? Is he sitting on his computer 24/7 ready to update all the bids? I mean why would anyone spend money there if they know there is no chance of being on the front page. Thats kinda lame. I spent $867 and I got to stay on the main page for 10 minutes. Great!
I wish Chris would come and put a few $800 bids on my bidding directory of directories - i live in hope!
Well I do not know about your claim, but you could have put that money into better use. You should have increased its pagerank first, got a unique template, added more categories, established your self on the forum a bit, and then invested so much money into promotion. But even so, you would probably do better spending so much money promoting regular web directory than bidding directory. Just my opinion.
You made an elementary mistake. Never get in a bidding war, unless you have money to at least double your original bid. Bidding for last 2-3 spots isn't really a good idea. I always bid high only in those bidding directories, where I am sure I can displace most of the sites on the home page. Now your $850 is stuck unless you can add at least a hundred dollars more to it. Even after that, there is no guarantee that Chris will allow you to be on the home page. .
Petyard. I agree now it was a waste of money, but I also spent $1420 on bigweblinks which is worth it IMO and $520 on cdhnow, as well as another $1000 on not directory pr links, $500 on paid directories, etc. I look at this as a long term project as an investment rather then a quick buck. A normal directory will be coming eventually one I establish Totalposters.com bid directory Brian
That is the nature of the beast. Getting in a bidding war with Chris isn't a very good idea unless you have deep pockets.
edbri871... I can understand how frustrating it must be... but the truth is Chris has the $$$ to stay on top... I dont think there ever was a time he wasnt on top in the dir bizz. I think this topic has gone from "is it a scam?" to "have you wasted your money"... I do believe you will do quite well as you have the drive required... Good luck to you...
I don't think he has wasted his money, as the "t" section of webdirectorybid has a PR6 and no one is close to his bid. So a permanant link like that isn't too bad. As long as he is in it for the long haul. Totally off topic, but I would do a redirect on your directory so that all PR is passed to one URL or the other. Example http://site.com ----> http://www.site.com OR vise versa (whichever you prefer) Just a thought....
We all learn on our mistakes. It is not wrong to spend so much money for promotion, if you have a proper product to promote. His website needs more work, like more categories, unique template, higher PR, etc.
You could have used this money intelligently rather than investing it in bid directories as only some give you a good traffic! for your niche!
I didn't just invest in bid directories. I have spent a couple thousand on paid dirctories/high pr sites, not to mention having links on 2 huge forum networks I own. I look at this as a learning experience and an investment for the future. When I'm done working on another large project (not directory related) I will be customizing the script and design.
