edited layout kills search engine traffic?

I've got a semi-adult oriented site that, until a week ago, was getting between 10-30 unique visitors a day from google... I know it's not much, but it's something...

Last week I edited the layout to make the site flow better... Since then, not a single visitor... is that just a weird coincidence, or does editing the code of a site have some effect on its ranking?

    Thanks

i dont think that the serp drop is related with your theme change

Ok, thanks for the input... If it goes another couple days with no traffic I'm going to put the old code back, just to see if I get people again... That would be crazy...

It's still not getting any traffic... I haven't tried putting the old template back on the site, but honestly don't think that would have an effect on it...

I attached a GIF screenshot of the stats page, I know it's not my imagination...

I edited the layout on the 29th...

Yeah, I don't understand... Maybe everyone in the world stop searching for sites like that on the exact same day... haha...

Really? That's a shame, it's only a semi-adult related site... No pornography or nudity, just stripclub information...

    Oh well...

Did you change the text (keywords) in your site?

No, none of the text was changed, just the layout... I'd post links to it, but it's adult themed...

Still haven't figured it out, but the traffic is STARTING to come back slowly...

The cause shouldn't be the adult content. Search for any adult term and results appear... Google just doesn't allow adult sites in AdWords / AdSense... Shame we won't find out.

I wouldn't be surprised if the change in layout changed the SERPS though - Do you have copies of the old site? If so, use the text-based web browser Lynx to view the old pages and the new pages and compare.

Google say that their bot basically sees what Lynx sees.

That's what I thought too! But now I'm starting to slowly get traffic back... VERY SLOWLY...

A few people have suggested it was because I got too many links to quickly... I'm thinking that's the most likely reason...
