Almost 95% of such sites give you the easily available form of e-trade only. Don't spend for it or confirm it before paying that it is e-trade or any other bank. I think they will never give you the name of that bank but atleast you can verify whether it is e-trade or not.

I don't think there is any other bank account rather then e-trade which allows non-us residents to open a account in US.

I once came across a website which claims to get you a US Bank account. It will ask you to fax them your passport copies etc. I request you not to get into these hassel while you are staying in India. You might face some issues in the long run.I mean tax related issues etc. This is just my opinion.

You need to validate the YKYC (you know your customer) regulation. Over the Internet, this is done by the social security number usually. Walking into the bank (especially Bank of America) helps to comply with YKYC.

Otherwise, eTrade has been successful in opening up some checking account for some merchants not based in the United States.

Another option is to check with some of your local banks - no matter how large or small - see if they have a relationship with some banks in the United States. If so, see if they will be able to help you open a United States bank account. Bank of America is usually the bank

One way to open up a US Bank account is to get these to the bank:

    1. passport copy
    2. national Identification
    3. Address Proof
    4. Age Proof
    5. etc etc

    OR:

Visit a Bank in US and provide them address proof, identity proof and few more docs.

    Thats all!
