We have used those on other sites and they created more work without seeing an increase in revenue Based on our experience but we would not utilize again without providing 24/7 support to man the live help
I wouldnt think that live chat is necessary for a directory. There is a different clientele that use directories and most know what they are looking for, but I guess its worth a try!
I have live help as well. I have secured advertising deals with it and paid submissions. It might not be on 24/7 but it makes a site look more professional and with the amount of phpld directorys out there that all look very similar any unique features on a website that make you stand out are welcome.
My previous host always used to show "Sorry, the online live support is currently offline. Please try again later" . The entire impression on the company is lost on seeing such messages everytime you use it. Provide features / services only if you can manage it.
I personally think Email is more then enough for directories..Live Chat is only good for directories like Aviva, Alive and Bussines.com IMO Saad
Live Chat for a directory ?? What kind of help people will be getting from it ??? I see no use of it. It will be an added work (extra) than a useful feature..
I think after inputting name and email and then getting: Sorry no operators are currently online to provide Live support at this time. As I just did, this would leave me with a negative impression (as it has with other sites who put this on for no good reason)
I don't think it is necessary for your directory. Email contact should be enough, or perhaps add your ym/msn handle there.
If you are really looking for other ways of connecting to your customers, I would suggest you rather than investing money in different live support services. Go for an integrated live support - Liveperson. this hosted live support provides you: Live chat Live call Knowledgebase Ticket support. Earlier, we too were not using liveperson because of its costly and invested on different supports. But after using liveperson on our site M2Mhost, we can say that it is economical and worth the cost.
OK. I got the idea but i am confused. You started using Live chat for your site and so excited that you want everyone to know about it ... OR You are doing a paid (or may be free) promotion for LivePerson. How come you compare a hosting site to a directory ???
We have been using live chat for over 3 years now, but the whole point here is that whether it is a directory or a hosting company - live chat gives you a medium to convert more sales. I think "choice" is selling banner as well as text linksfor his directory inclusion, so at the end of the day, if live chat helps him convert more people to buy links on his directory, why wouldn't he?
