Actually Americans are no heavier than Europeans and Europeans have higher risk of heart disease.....
Europe is quickly following where America led. I'm quite astonished at the numbers of fat kids I see, there's really no need for it. I'm not convinced that bad diet is the whole story here: in the 60s people used to eat a lot more lard, and more calories on average as well. But they were burning them up, instead of sitting in front of the computer, playstation or TV. People just don't get out as much as they used to, and when they do they go everywhere in the car. A few blackouts and oil shortages and we would all be thinner.
I am on this new diet, called see it and eat it. I am perfectly healthy though, I run 50-60 miles weekly.
One solution to the obesity problem would be to switch over to vegetarian food which is very healthy and prevents a whole lot of diseases such as heart disease, high B/P as well as a number of currently very prevalent cancers
