I have experienced a recent jump in traffic on my Real Estate Directory and went to check my stats to find a pretty interesting keyword that I have recently started to rank for.

It's funny when we all try to rank for some hot keywords, spend money and time on it, and then suddenly better results come from a keyword we have never been after.
Makes the whole SEO idea look funny doesn't it?

 

its fun also (or not so fun if site is commercial) when u come up with a keyword phrase u do not want to be there .. my partner with r3d.es has a political blog and one page of it, is first for a very very common rude phrase in spanish (it happened coz of comments) .. but the biggest fun was to find a google search keyword phrase that ended on one of our flight offers (happened coz of news) .. the translation to english would be somehting like "wood boxes that move alone and dont have anybody inside" .. crazy.. LOL

 

It's always nice when you get a top ranking and especially nice when you didn't even try too.

a great deal of creativity and custom Smarty work, the only serious mods i have is category sponsorship and coupon mod

My favorite mismatch was when for a while I was ranking top 10 for something like "exotic women" because of one of my art entries. Had to laugh when some of these fellows obviously not looking for arts and crafts came to my site - can't imagine what they were thinking. It lasted for about a week or so.
