Authority Directory

    I'm looking at investing into a couple Authority directories to help out with my SERP's and keep a step ahead from my competition. I have my eye on a couple but was worried that since my link will be from an inner page that doesn't seem to have the same PR as the home page; does Google discount the "Authority" of the directory/link. Does this make sense or is it just the domain google uses to add Authority to your website?

    I was thinking of spending this months profits ($200) on links to increase my SERP's/PR. Think this is a good way to go spending $ on 3 - 4 links for the year versus a ton of smaller PR sites backlinks (I am currently slowly doing this with smaller sites on a weekly basis)

    Any help would be great.

    Interesting article. Unfortunately Google has never actually stated what makes an authority website. The presence of the indented links is no guarantee of "authority".

    Web pages don't "inherit" the PageRank of the root domain. They get whatever PR they can from pages that link to them. The main thing you want in a directory listing is:

    1) A page that is indexed in Google
    2) An appropriate category
    3) A straight-through link.

    I think nobody can answer that for sure. But 3 or 4 links certainly won't do much for your ranking if you are optimizing for competitive term.

    I am of the opinion that -- authority links are what matters.

    3/4 links from authority sites --are equal to several hundred normal sites. And when we talk about authority sites-- PR is not a problem here.

    If someone says he would sell a PR6 link from a normal site for $100, and a PR1 link from and authority site -- I would definitely go for authority link.

    Otherwise I'll go for the PR of the link-page.

    Since you are looking for only 3/4 links --here are 4 directories --that are recognized as authority directories by google.

    1. Alive Directory
    2. Aviva Directory
    3. Sevenseek
    (All these 3 authority directories are owned by our own DP members. So I would suggest --you to submit to them first)

    If you want more Authority Directories -- here is a complete list of 25 authority directories that I know of.( there is one more I am yet to list.

    Enjoy your promotion. I think you are doing the right thing by selecting authority directories to improve your serps.:)

    Rep added, thanks for the great response. I had my eye on those directories because they were a great balance b/w price/authority/PR. Once I get my next affiliate check I will do all 3 probably.

    FYI I already rank in the top 15 for all my key words I just want to be proactive and stay there/ move up to first page on all of them.
