Timeout folks. Lets stay on topic and get away from the personal attacks or this thread will be closed. It does, however, serve a purpose and it would be useful to keep it open. I haven't read every page but I can certainly understand the problem! I use themes all the time (my design skills are negligible) and I keep the designer's link - so far none have been sponsored. I'm not sure how I'd react to a sponsored link - I'm not keen on giving away sitewide links to companies I don't endorse. The designer is automatically endorsed because I like their work enough to use it. That said I see plenty of instances where newbies use themes and leave the links in place so even if the odd person strips out the links there will be many, many more who don't so concept must be working. It means that we get more choice with themes and that's excellent. However WordPress is meant to be free and opensource so the commercial element must be balanced and not everyone is going to be happy. Atleast the designers have choice.
