links from spam sites and how it affects our ranking

I would like to know how it affects us if someone is providing me a link through a site which is actually one of those google adsense template site. I am talking about http://www.medicinefarm.com/
They are using one of my articles without my consent. looks like these guys are using an article which I posted on a blog and they are using it as it is. They have a link under the article to my site but is that of any use to me.
Plus I am worried that google will punish my site as now i have some same content as this site whereas I am the one you wrote the article.
There are a lot of senior webmasters here which I hope can guide me a little.

    Thanks
    nil

You really have little control over who links to you. It is a shame that your article was stolen, but seeing that site I imagine it is everywhere now. I know google is now penalizing paid links, but I like to think that they realize that you can't always control your incoming links, and just ignore them.

if you have many backlinks from other websites, one bad link can't do anything bad, and it is not on any paid pages, it can't be considered paid link. I don't see anything wrong with that page, it's just a Made for adsense page with a lot of outbound links, without any search engine rankings, because he has only copied content.

Who links you cant lower your PR or any other related thing. Any other ideas are rumours to get visitors to webmaster blogs/sites.

If that would be posible it be easily abusable and anyway it's out of owning webmaster control.

File a DMCA takedown and get it taken down and file one with Google and get their adsense taken away.

And by the way - Google won't bomb your rankings because of one spam site linking to you, they will only do it if you have nothing but spam sites linking to you.

if it was an article posted to your blog then it is most likely being picked up and displayed via rss.

not sure if you can make an rss feed available and then sue someone for displaying it but hey you can have a go.

normally the best thing to do is to make your rss feed display pics taken from goatse or similar for a week,

they will stop using your feed then

    although so will everyone else

RSS feed availability does not mean no copyright.

Reading a post in an RSS reader is not the same as copying a post and putting it up for public display on a splog.

This is correct. I don't have the exact quote, but Google has stated that backlinks can't hurt your PageRank. It's not who links to you that can get you into trouble, it's who you link to.

It really does not do anything. This happens way to much and I dont think that anyone would punish anyones site because of this. Bloggers use copy-paste content all the time. Expecially from other blogs. So I do not think that this will be a problem.

A lot of scraper sites link to one website I run and I still get top ranks in the search engines for my keywords. I'd say it has little or no effect at all.
