NOD32 gets my vote. Great little program that doesn't consume loads of resource.

although I used avg before, i find it very annoying that it has to pop up everytime its downloads an update.

Kapersky works great on my pc, I've ran nod, avg, avast, norton, mcafee and I like Kapersky ;)

They'll all work about the same, you get what you pay for.

disable the win update from being alerted by avg, takes all of 2 secs :D
I run avg with kapersky and nothing pops up

One more question, can you get AVG just with the firewall, not with the antivirus too?

You don't need to av programs, use NOD or AVG, not both at the same time...

If you want a standalone firewall just download a free one... Comodo is what I use, but there are a few, Zone Alarm etc (not my cup of tea though)

Another thing you might want to get is some kind of spyware scanner like spybot s&d

Nod32 is my choice. It also continually updates as new definitions come in.

NOD 32 is a good antivirus but not the best, its cheap and reliable that's why if your on a tight budget, choose it.
