Favorite HTML Editor

Mine has got to be Dreamweaver its easy to use and has lots of features, before that i used Frontpage '98 for a long, long time. But now i mostly hand code. Whats your favorite?

win32pad - no bad acid trip syntax highlighting, no code completion always putting the close in the wrong place forcing me to make even more edits, no WYSIWYG to screw things up or decade out of date prebuilt scripts (like that stupid MM_ mouseover bull). Just a flat text editor with a minimal memory footprint is all I need or even WANT.

**** dreamweaver. If you use the WYSIWYG you get broken buggy bloated sites, and if you just use it in 'code view' you dropped $400 or so for something you can get for free.

Win32pad, Notepad++, ConText, Edit+, gEdit, Bluefish... Plenty of GOOD editors out there to keep you close to the code instead of churning out crap with WYSIWYGS like frontpage, dreamweaver, hotmetal, mozilla composer, komposer, etc. etc. Those are a crutch for churning out garbage bloated sites, and invariably end up costing more in the long run both in preventing a coder from gaining the necessary skills, and from repeated breakage of the sites made in them when the next 'flavor of the month' browser comes along.

 

Everyone seems to be liking Dreamweaver! I'm pretty old school since I code everything by hand in a notepad... (I like the control). I'll try Dreamweaver one day

 

Notepad ftw. After that it's CoffeeCup Html Editor, then CoffeeCup Visual Site Editor.

Notepad just gives you more of a sense of control over your site.

 

I been wanting to try Microsoft Web Expression.

Dreamweaver. But you've got to check what you get in code view.

 

I use dreamweaver, but still edit the HTML after I've built it.

 

Dreamweaver and Crimson Editor. 90% of everything I do is in Crimson Editor. Initial layout is usually in Dreamweaver.

I use HTML tidy kit and FTP for my coding stuff. And I code alot by hand anyway. I have books on HTML.

Call me lazy, but I am a writer and only came into coding because of Issues Magazine. I use HTML for everything because I don't want to learn any other code. Not interested in other codes.

I use Zend Enviornment because I work in PHP mainly.
