Right now, I'm running 2 separate ad campaigns, 1 search network and 1 on content. I've noticed that the "Quality score" column doesn't appear on the search network ad group. I have 2 questions related to the content network: 1. Do keywords matter at all for the content network? 2. I see people paying as low as 5 or even 1 cent per click on the content network. How the heck do they get their bids so low? Right now, I'm still paying like 30 cents a click. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys.
Keywords determine which sites your advert will appear on. So yes, they matter. Just like the Search Network, your bids depend on a Quality Score. But there's no minimum bid, so if you 'can't' get your cpc any lower, I'm guessing that you haven't set seperate bids for the Content Network? This is in your campaign settings - tick the box in the top-right. Then adjust the bids at Adgroup level, the same way that you would with the Search Network. Needless to say, the less you bid, the less likely your adverts are to appear on sites...
When it comes to bidding, the Search network and Content Network work the same way, the more you bid the higher and more frequent your ad will show. 5 or 1 cent clicks are either on very obscure keywords that will generate low and mostly useless traffic, unless your lucky and you hit some very specific phrase.
Yeah mate check you campaign settings and set a separate bids for you content what ever amount you want to pay for you content advert.
Thanks for all the input, guys. I have separated my "search" and "content network" campaigns. But I've been hearing about people getting penny clicks (or at the very least, very cheap clicks) for content network and just wondering how they got it. It didn't sound to me like they had a really obscure niche or keywords. I can get my ads to show on the content network. I just want to get the CPC lower. lol.
