I also want to recommend "Live Free or Die Hard" if you are into action movies. I would put it up there with the first "Die Hard". It doesn't feel like a knock off and you get your money's worth of entertainment. "Transformers" was also a good action movie but don't waste your time with the new "Fantastic Four". I saw it and ugh, it was awful!
you're right dude... special effect is the name of the game right now... only few movies have good story and good special effects at the same time... LOTR is one of those...

Well you still can find some nice movies now , but you find one nice movie each year or two , and Old movies were like you find one crappy movie each year,and even still the nicest movie of those new ones , is as nice as the crappiest movie of the old ones imo.
300 is so epic haha. I would tend to say that the ratio of poor movies to good movies is about on par as it has always been as a whole. For every few good ones theres alot more overall "forgettable" movies...but thats just my $0.02
