Here are some pictures. I took the pictures with my phone, which is why they took so long (I hadn't send images with the phone before) and why they are relatively poor quality.

This one just walked up to me, which is why I thought someone just abandoned it. The size increase is messing up my resolution. Here's a slide show:

The pictures look better before it zooms in.

The colourings on the extremities (temperature sensitive pigmentation) give it a sort of persian appearance. Very cute.
I would take it to the vet, get vaccinations and castration sorted - might cost a bit. If you think there is any possibility it could belong to anyone then do look for the owner, again the vet might help here. Also on this front, hold off on castration, the owner may be hoping to breed from it.
    Hope this helps.

The fact it walked up to you doesn't necessarily mean it was abandoned - although I can see how you might come to this conclusion. Kittens don't have a great sense of direction right away, so they can easily become lost and if well handled (you say it was already litter trained, right?) then it probably would be rather friendly.

The problem is in where I found it. It was in the downtown section of a city. And when I tried to take it across a street it squirmed away and hid. since there are no residential areas it could have come from without crossing several streets, I think someone left it in plain site, hoping someone else would take it. But I will wait a bit, and have already been cheakng the lost and found section in the paper (online :D). I'm actually not too keen on keeping the kitten considering that it would be inconvienient for several reasons, and I really don't want to lave it alone all day. So I will try to find the owner and maybe see if some people I know might want it.

It is very friendly and thinks I'm it's mother (it seems to try to milk my chin )

I don't know if I should tell exactly what city, since this is the net and some people are suspect ;). But it is a metro area of over a million people.

BTW, I found out today that it has fleas. I can't use flea baths etc. on a kitten. So I tried to give it a regular bath and then use a flea comb on it. Needless to say the cat felt abused, perhaps damaging the mother-kitten bond :(

I saw it scratching itself and thought, "well everyone is entitled to an itch and scratch." Then I saw some fleas get scratched off

I have heard you shouldn't use flea collars in kittens and I read you should give them a bath in a mild soap and use a flea comb on them...easier said than done.

The pawing and the chin biting are both normal - watch out for your furniture and wallpaper - they're next.

As for fleas, you are right adult flea treatments are not suitable but your vet will hae an appropriate dose precisely for this purpose. If the flea problem becomes severe then the kitten is at a real risk of developing anaemia. He/she will also need worming.

Talk to Denise. She found a puppy a few weeks back, and puppies and kittens need similiar care in the end. She'll tell you what to do.

I see what you're saying. Careful though - we had a cat brought into us that died because its owners used dog flea powder on it - it is much too strong.

That kitten is totally cute. I don't think I could get rid of it if I found it.
