Interesting Directory for Sale Thread Here on DP, Opinions?

Personally I find the above two claims more than a little misleading but he is honest about the age of the domain and the fact that it was something else before.

Judging by the bids and who is bidding I think they don't quite understand how dropped domains work and the likelyhood that this will drop down to a PR3 or PR4 on the next updates.

Since the DP member seems to be quite experienced and has a good reputation what do you think?

I guess my opinion is that I am troubled that he calls it a real PR6 directory when really it is a new directory on a PR6 dropped domain.

i see more and more people picking up dropped domains and turning them round to sell
basically if you are selling a domain without prior notice that the domain is dropped it would be fraud
i know if i paid $800 for a site and later found it was from a dropped domain i would be looking their ip from the forum to take it further

as for when the seller states it is a dropped domain and the previous site wasnt even related well..
    a fool and his money..

Yes I agree that they member did at least disclose but with the hyped up title and by-line I don't think many of the newer folks would read much more before getting excited. I hope it works out for both sides in this deal and I will keep an eye on the page rank of this one (as well as a few others I have been curious about).

I guess you didn't expect him to sell it Guardian, perhaps he will refund you if you ask?

Thanks for the link btw, again it does seem a little misleading and my reason for making this thread is because the whole 'dropped domain' thing has become quite a thorn in the directory industries side.

Judging from this post made over 6-weeks ago perhaps he did a lot of link building and the PR won't drop, I didn't see mention of it in his sales thread but I will go there and ask about it.

well you have to ask why doesnt he wait until the update which is imminent
IF it drops PR to like 3-4 the new owner cant be happy with that and its just gonna be hassle and bitching

theres even a chance it will keep the old pr past this upate anyway so you cant even tell for sure if it is a new pr value
unless hes done ALOT of link building in 6weeks i doubt he would keep pr6 imo

the pr from dropped domains doesnt follow any hard and fast rule since i have seen dropped domains keep their pr and gain pr to inner pages created after the dropped domain was purchased
i think it would be fairer to sell at THIS stage rather than when its unsure
but then again..if someone wants to spend the money and take the risk..

I think he admitted in the opening post that he's done little if any promotion, even after all of the claims in the announcement thread.

The OP of that thread threathened me --to report to the Mods --and I asked to report him.

He did report--the Mod deleted all my posts detailing his falsifying facts --and gave me an infraction--

Guys do you want those type of guys ruin your industry?

We should find out who the Mod was and settle the issue--

bcoz --that Mod was certainly supporting a fraud:mad:

That guy is full of sh*t.
    Check out his old post:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=355068

He tried to make as much as possible out of it and now before the update he is selling it. Unbelievable!

I just posted in his thread as well. We'll see if mods delete it or if I get infraction as well.

    Hello...

Evidently some people just dont get it...

Agreed with above poster that it will drop in PR as soon as the update is done.

Do i think he should have said something? off course...
your calling an apple an orange and by the time the smoke clears
    your left with crap..
Dont get me wrong its very possible to keep it at PR6 but you
had best have a few bucks to get some links pointing to it...

    thx

well i think if people hurt the business we belong to we should try and protect our interests
directory owners should stand up against these sales as they hurt us all

After he reported me I asked why I got an infraction (2 points) to the two currently active mods. The Mod who gave me an infraction kindly replied to my enquiry

    I wrote to him/her again

I hope the Administration of DP understands the magnitude of the problem we are facing and from next time give infraction to the guilty than people like me who are standing up against them.

I can withstand the 2 point infraction I received for standing up--but I am sad because my posts pointing the fraudulent SALE has been deleted:mad:

One of your posts is still there where you question the validity of the page rank. I think that is enough.

Not all of my thumbnails are updated either, but I am not claiming to be Aged in order to make a profit.

This is the reason buying a link on a dropped domain is almost foolish. But the issue and problem is the owner often.

    Because;

The owner has used a dropped domain for QBC purpose.
The site is often not promoted at all.

DP mods cleared out his entire thread.

the funny thing is the thread starter actually gave me green rep for my post and that one (and my green rep) is gone too.
