Hi, i need all Dp members help, my friend in trouble with CA - COLON CANCER ( ca - colon with omental metastasis ) ... now the stage is 45% effcted include his LIVER , doctors said this was started at 2 years back just 2 month back was we discover this problem, that was 23% before 2 month back now its 45% ( fastly growing i think ) finished his surgery and did 3 time chemotherapy but still percentage is going high ....... any hope ?
Truthful answer leandar is not much hope unfortunately - the odds of survival are dramatically reduced by the fact it has already metastasised. I read (Oxford Handbook of General Practice p524) that the 5 year mortality of such a case is slightly less than 40%. The trouble with colon / colorectal cancer is that people tend to present themselves late because the symptoms take a while to manifest and the embarassment factor.
Well if the medical establishment is not offering much hope, your friend might want to explore some alternative methods of treatment. Try reading the book "Outsmart Your Cancer" that gives several alternative treatments. Also, you might check out the A.P John Cancer Institute (just do a google search). I looked into this treatment extensively for my mother who had a really rare type of cancer and we even ordered the stuff but then the cancer spread to her brain and she lost any fight she had in her. She was treated at the Dana Farber cancer instituted and her oncologist said that this treatment was safe for her (but he couldn't say if it would help!) My mother died before she tried any of these so I can't say if any of this stuff works but if you are losing hope with modern medicine maybe an alternative treatment can at least offer some hopeful days even if it doesn't extend life, maybe it can make each day more pleasant.
Unluckily, when young, cancer spreads out fast. But I would hope that he, with the help of family, friends, doctors, etc, keeps fighting until there's hope. One day it'll be like a cold, easy to get behind, today we have to fight it. Every effort at least helps research and allows for progress to be made. He deserves everybody's prayers...
this is very sad indeeed!!! 35 is way too young..i was thinking perhaps 65 which is more acceptable hope they can help hin
