I just started a paid for posting site. It's pretty much like any other, nothing too unique. What would be the best way to advertise this with minimal to no advertising costs? I'm fine with putting in a lot of labor, and I'm already doing the groundwork (submitting links to directories, etc).
Well for starters don't refer to your service as "its pretty much like any other". If that's the case then why would anyone use it?
I'm of course not going to market it as that. I'm giving the people helping me a realistic view of what my company currently is so they can give me the best advice.
Do hit the directories, but also write articles, post in a blogs. "Brand new website to help take the new off your ??" 500 to 1000 words and you'll find people here, that will blast it off for little or nothing to their blog network. Just look around, read some of the threads,or signatures!
What I have learned over the last few years at DP is to be upbeat and continue to submit to directories and don't get the illusion of "nothing is happening" - you have to keep hyping your web site no matter what - even if you feel like nothing is gong on - you have give your surfers and yourself the image of constant goings on -

offering the trial service with low fee or free of charge. this will give you some works but it will exchange with the good testimonials you will get. since you are new you need somebody to recommend your service so other people will dare to use your service. ps. i got cheated by some member who offering me a job as poster and didn't pay for me. i hope you will not let other people down like i have experienced. good luck with your business.
