I have a budget and want to buy some backlinks in High PR directories, which one is the most popular directory? I would prefer a web hosting related one. Please share your experience;)

For webhosting backlinks, see if you can buy signatures at www.webhostingtalk.com

Extremely targeted and the forum is huge.

There is no set price. I'd look around the forum looking for someone with a decent amount of posts, and PM him telling him your interested in buy sig space.

It is against the rules to buy sig space there, so don't post any threads saying you want to buy.

Always check page rank of category pages before submitting. If the directory has PR6 and the category page is PR0 then your backlink is worthless. If you have enough budget then buy featured listing of directories which has high PR. You will get strong backlinks.

No directory is ever worth paying for a link in, under any circumstances.

I completely disagree. I have found that I get a lot more traffic and results from one purchased link in a quality directory than I ever do from links in about 200 directories. Its all about quality and paid directories have shown that they have Quality! You will have better results with one link in Alive directory than 200 links in free directories!

That's not rubbish by any means. You may see a lot of spider traffic, other webmasters seeing whether they're in the right category, etc, but not enough conversions ( if any ) to justify the expense. Add in the fact that Google is stamping out PR gain from paid links, and this is a complete waste of time.

Your advice has a built-in conflict of interest, selling links through "Overdrive Web Directory" as shown by the negative reputation you gave me, at the cost of -1 point to your own, for expressing a sane opinion.

Complete BS.....Web Directories rarely pass traffic.....they are strictly for link juice.....You make it sound like you get a lot of traffic from Web Directories....I manage many sites and they are listed in DMOZ, Aviva, Yahoo and all of the directories combine are responsible for less than 0.5% of total traffic.......

I also second Forrest that your advice has a conflict of interest

    Yahoo.com
    Business.com
    BOTW.org

Are the best ones in my opinion.

HAHA, you guys are so nice......I did not mention to anyone in this thread for people to submit to my directory. Yes, I own one, but also I run many other sites that have nothing to do with directories..... This being the case, I submit most of my sites to paid directories because my research shows a lot better conversion rates than your 0.5% of total traffic. I cannot help that no one wants to click on your site from in a directory, but they do like mine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am entitled to mine, there is no conflict of interest due to the fact that I did not push submission to my own directory!!

    Shows what you know
I'm ranked on the first page of google thanks to directories ;)

It's worth it for me because it's a fast turn around.. I can add 5 pr5 links to my site and see a difference within a few days.

If you have time to wait for traffic, that's one thing, but when you are looking for changes in a week, I'd go with a few paid links..

btw, the dir's in my sig aren't mine,, I have one in the location tho ^^>>> :)
