Targeted traffic is best for conversion. And the best source of targeted traffic is CPC such as Adwords but that will cost you.
I have to dig up the article, but I remember reading type-in traffic converts ALOT better then search engine traffic.
By the way guys... When you are talking about converting you need to specify what kind of traffic you are talking about and what do you mean by conversion. Is it a sale? Click? Lead?
Converting can mean anyone one of those things depending on the goals of the site. If it's a parked page, your goal is to get clicks, if it's a developed site your goal is to generate a lead/sale/clicks.
I think search engine traffic would obviously be very targeted. In addition links on forums or blogs related to the subject of your site may bring targeted traffic.
lol yea, i was not asking what a conversion was. I was saying that for example selling adult toys on some porn site might be a bit different to getting clicks on your MFA finance site. Different sources of traffic will obviously perform differently. So When you ask for the best source of targeted visitors you might want to specify what kind of visitors you are looking for.
In my opinion PPC traffic is the best and the most targeted one if you can get your keywords right. Conversion is a matter of your landing page and its relevance to the keyword that you bid. I rely on PPC more than SE traffic since I am not up to the tedious task of SEO.
Search engine and PPC is the best, I think. Direct advertisement is not to be overlooked. If targeted traffic isn't from organic searches, you bet it's relatively expensive.
