Religions are bad things anyway and usually are designed by their priests/founders to get in the way of any real spiritual growth in favor of giving power to the priest/founders so it would not surprise me that this kind of stuff in the name of "religion" is still going on even in India. Thats a sick tradition just like Sati ritual.. They made a law against Devdasi ritual, but it is still in practice. The Hindu Tradition became corrupt in the middle age, Brahmins Bend/made rules to their satisfaction. the original Hindu traditions and culture is no where to be found, it has lost it's roots long ago..

yea most religions treat women 1st class citizens now and equal... some things that would not be humane logically speaking is make a lady marry a husband that also has 5 other wives... woman are not animals and livestock also to make women cover up and die in heat in black clothing in 40 degrees whether and not allowed to work or goto school in not humane.. thank god these things dont happen in most countries in this day and age
Well, being brought up in a country like India, and a city like Jabalpur in the middle of Madhya Pradesh, I have seen people killing each other in the name of religion. Why do they have to do it ? Donno what got into me, noone in my vicinity is an atheist, but yet I am. And people say why are you an atheist ? Atleast I do not kill , rape, steal in the name of religion.
