Why does google say my site map has errors when I followed Their own directions

    I followed google's directions and It still says I have errors.

    Does google have problems with regular HTML site maps or what?

    you have probably invalid chars, like é, ã, ñ, etc.

    Try to stick to utf-8 encoding, and rename those chars.

    Once something happened to my sitemap also that surprised me, everything was Ok but I could see some errors being reported, after investigation I found out the problem was due to the web hosting factor.

    The website was not uptime in some hours and Google had problems in accessing sitemap and some pages.
