I Really piss off when they said their hosting reliable, what exactly is reliable?

What is the aspect that is really reliable and not just bluffing?

When you said you are reliable, why your support take more than 24 hours to reply?

when you said your host is 99.99% uptime, why it's down every 1 or 2 days?

After you make money from reseller and master reseller package, then you are f**k off from the forum, when email you all but didnt get any reply, is that called reliable?

I think that most hosts are reilaible. I do think that if you host unlimited web hosting or you oversell.. you are not reliable.

There are a lot of bad hosts and a lot of good hosts and the thing is they are going to tell you that they are reliable. I suggest you to use one that everyone talks good things about.

Don't use one where everyone talks about! :)

Depend how you see find web host. If you join a host because of the cheap price, then you will be host cheaply.

Bottomline is, you get what you pay for.

My advice? Don't use a reseller.. Go direct to the source. Resellers have no control over uptime. When you're ready to upgrade to the real deal, visit HostDrive.com and find out what reliable really means..

No one's perfect, but since we own and man our own carrier class data center with multiple paths to the internet, it is much easier for us to maintain higher uptimes.

20% discount for any DP member for any of our plans.. Visit us at HostDrive.com

Now I know we are not the cheapest either. Reliability costs money. Like the poster above me, "you get what you pay for"... SERIOUSLY!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Louislim2 I certainly can understand your frustrations but you have to realize many providers use 99.99% as a sales pitch with no intension of fulfilling it. You get what you pay for - you can't expect 99.99% and pay $10 for 100GB of transfer it is not possible. Finally, there is a huge difference between 99% uptimes and 99.99% uptimes.

For example: Take the month of July with 31 days
    99.99% uptime = 4 minutes 27 seconds of downtime
    99.9% uptime = 44 minutes 38 seconds of downtime
    99.5% uptime = 3 hours 43 minutes 12 seconds of downtime
    99% uptime = 7 hours 26 minutes 24 seconds of downtime

As we can see there is a huge difference between these four. The only way a provider can truly guarantee 99.99% uptime is with a server cluster but at the same time be prepared to pay for it.

My advice is to ask your next hosting provider to supply you with their uptime stats - while future uptime performance is unknown, you can get a pretty good indication based on past statistics.

Stay away from offerings that are too good to be true.

Reliability comes at a price, a price unfortunately, many are not willing to pay for.

Sometime they are just give you confident to host with them but actually there are you reliable, will get lost when you need them, sux back on DP and get other newbies down, and get lost again. Do you think will stop those guys to sell?

We took a look at 6 years at our current facility (been in business over 10) and over those 6 years, looking at total network down time, ie., complete and total outages that were 100% network wide which would include everything from power outages, to downed circuits, cut fiber, downed equipment, etc., we came up with about 8 hours of down time total over the course of 6 years. That put the percentage around 99.85%

    Here is the calulation 1 - (8/(24*365*6))

    which gives .998477, or 99.85%

I am being very liberal with this estimate btw... If we look at our 10 year average we are around 99.99, which is pretty difficult to achieve. Either way, keep in mind we do not have a Generator, so our biggest down fall has always been power, not bandwidth, or equipment issues...

No one can guarantee 100% uptime.. That is just not possible. But you can get real close. We have always done the best we can, and as a result have kept customers quite happy over the last 10+ years!.

    YMMV.

Your math seems to be incorrect. You can sustain a 99.9% uptime for a year with ~9 hours of total down time. For every 30 days of service you can sustain about 45 minutes of down time and be within 99.9%. So 99.85% seems to be selling yourself short big time.

Thanx for catching that. Sorry, my formula was right, I just didn't read the result correctly. The answer is .9998477, which is 99.985% .

doh... Well, I guess we have a pretty damn good uptime after all!!!

99.985% is not bad, but where we can check the result for those hosting company? Is that only provider by the owner?

If you want, my company also offers many discounts to webhosting. We can offer you resellers, shared, and VPS. As well as shoutcast and additional features.
But, I don't want to go too far off-topic. Some hosts even say they have 100% uptime guarenteed. Those, you need to stay far away from. No one can offer 100% uptime. If so, they must be on an old server with few clients.
If your interested in my service, check http://www.shoutserv.com
Or you can PM me and we can talk about it.
Although we don't offer 100% uptime. We can guarentee at least 99% uptime.
If you'd like to check our uptime, view our uptime report here: http://www.siteuptime.com/statistics.php?Id=56071&&UserId=70962

frankly, i have come to realise that those charging too low prices which sound a great bargain to u are completely unreliable and they usually suspend ur accounts or have bad uptime..

therefore, go with those with decent prices..
