Matt Cutts implied they run now every 2-4 months. anyone know when the last was or the next will be? Do they run using internally cached information without re verification if the site content has changed? Or do they spider the net anew, applying this algorithm to mark sites for deletion from the index? Over how many days to they run? How quickly thereafter do the sites get de-listed and do all the pages go at once or gradually?
I have no idea myself, but I can say last year I was dropped off for 4 months for one of my sites and it was a complete drop quickly. So, I would say when they run it happens very fast. That same site has been now going up and down for the past 2 months, I am talking first page to page 50+, and have yet to figure that out, if that is a pre update I have no idea where the plan is for that site when it runs. I have to think the lack of chimes here is due to the old "Only Google Knows" saying.
I can feel it coming...it's going to be soon, and I think it will through out a lot of babies with the bathwater - just my hypothesis. I could be wrong...have been before.
I think ran today. Anyone else notice strange activity in SE listing volume numbers (not rank - but number of listings) on sites with a lot of outbound links?
I think they already implemented it in the crawling process. As soon as a page that has a backlink to your website is crawled google checks to see if that anchor text has anything to do with your website, and how many % of you backlinks contain are with the same anchor text. It's not something that they run every now and then.
Well it's broken, i've got sites ranking due to inbound link anchor text and the anchor doesn't appear anywhere on the site.
