I am finding three schools of thought about article marketing: One school says never submit the same article to more than one site. Another school says to submit the same article to many article directories at once. The third recommends submitting the same article to several well-ranked article directories at once. I have done them all. My best results have come on ezinearticles and goarticles submissions. I think it would be hard to tell if duplicate articles hurt because they just don't drive traffic. I would like to hear what some DP members have found with their article marketing efforts. Which school would you subscribe to? Chris
Why shouldn't you submit your article to multiple article directories? I hear something like this for the first time and I honestly think it's stupid. There are plenty of article websites out there and they don't share 100% exact same traffic, some visit ad1.com, others visit ad2.com and perhaps 30% of ad1 and ad2 visitors visit ad3.com. So tell me, why shouldn't you submit to all three websites?
Well the theory is that since youre posting the same article on 2 different databases that Google will penalize the articles for duplicate content therefore hurting how the articles rank.
I agree with BlakeReviews You may find this interesting http://diagnostics.googlerankings.com/duplicate-content-in-google.html Mike
Interesting link, Mike. For the long run, it sounds like it is best to do some revising on content before submitting an article to each article directory. Dang!
I'm firmly in the "all you can submit" camp, with the caveat that you only bother to submit to reputable sites. Duplicate content is only something to worry about when it's YOUR website that you're talking about, not out on article directories... If you've posted the exact same article on your website that you spread out to those directories, then you better make sure YOURS WAS INDEXED FIRST, because Google isn't in the habit of penalizing the Original Content! Heck, even in the link above, which isn't exactly out of Matt Cutt's mouth, by the way, it said: "The URLs that are judged to point to content that can be found on another URL as well, are being lowered in their importance..." So it's the page that is POINTING that loses it's pagerank, not the pointed-to. At worst, if you take this literally, the page on the article directory site that is pointing to you takes a tiny dip in PR. Not eliminated, not 'down one PR number' -But just 'lowered.' You can simply make it up in quantity buy submitting to hundreds of article directories. It's a no-brainer. Luke
I always try to use a slightly different title and first paragraph if im submitting the same article to multiple directories.
Luke, You make a great point...and one that brings up another point: What if I write and article and put on my site and then submit it to ezinearticles.com? Will I be penalized since ezinearticles gets spidered so often?
Depends on how much time you have and what you are trying to achieve. If you have loads then write unique copy for the top directories is good.
Hi Tiger33, how often does your site get spidered ?? if your content is being refreshed often, you need to set a metatag for the robots like note the "2 days" tells the bots to return every 2 days so once your article been spidered then submitt it to the article directories, by the time they approve it, you'll have had several bots visits. So you'll not get penalized..... Mike
I subscribe to the school that says Jason knows what he's talking about and therefore we should do what he says. Honestly, what others say matters little to nothing (my own opinion). It's amazing the level of clarity one gets when one does their own research. Instead of asking a forum of people, who no doubt have a wide-range of experiences, what happens if you submit one article to tons of places, just do it and see. Take some of the comments here and in other threads and set up test projects. Fire them up, log the results and become an expert for your own business. And anyone who knows anything about the media business knows that you NEVER take your site's exclusive content and spread it around article sites. You'll dilute and destroy your site's value.
