Your best bet would be to learn to use the search function in forums so you can find tons of great stuff from the past few months. Also read the sticky.

    1. If you are looking to build a premium directory, always rewrite the description of submissions. You want to avoid duplicate content.
There is my advice :) You will get more!

She will do that, just getting the hang of using a forum

I have not received any complaints. As long as their general message remains the same, they will be happy. They benefit from it. You are wrapping their link around unique content. It is a win/win.

    1. If you make a paid one then make it paid from the start.

    2. Review carefully, regardless of paid or free setup.

    3. Dont use a category dump if you can help it.

    4. Dont believe absolutely everything that you read, but at the same time you will get much advice and help when you need it.

    5. Make your own choices after you ask questions and do your research and know that there is no "best script" or "best hosting company" or "best template designer" because everyone has their own tastes and needs and you should choose and do what is best for you and your users/customers.

There is so much more... :)

Huu, does make a lot of sense

You ought to start a seperate thread on this topic, worth a discussion.

Also, i guess i would post about this in my blog..

This is one baby step that will take a giant leap to help the dir get out of the supplemental

I guess i will start doing this, will experiment this on the next few paid submissions i get

Try searching for a section of their description in Google. You will quickly realize that many directory managers do not take the time to keep up quality. At AllBuziness.com business directory, quality is worth the extra time because it increases our value to customers.

Forget about money and focus on giving your visitors something of value.

When is the last time you saw $ exchange hands without the buyer putting a "value" on the item / service bought.

If you look for $ you'll never make it. It's weird and elusive like that :D

ZOMG (- I'll never use that again :) ) - $10,000 for directory promotion on that Magx article. People with that sort of budget for a web directory will be few, most won't have anything like that much -perhaps $100.

Directorycritic is a good resource for finding directories because it shows you if they accept free submissions. Find them with decent PR, say 3-4, and perhaps if you're lucky 5 -and submit your site.

    Also, don't forget info.vilesilencer.com
