Not a problem! Just send me a pm with your questions - The site is getting a makeover not only design wise - but also with features! --------- I had to come back and post this! (on themes.wordpress.net) That's about half of what was there a couple of days ago What are they thinking!
I agree. I would also add this: 5) No (or VERY little) adds of any kind. It just makes the site look spammy and cheap. I know that there are costs involved but for the site to become popular, you have to make some sacrifices. Let it grow first then sneak in a couple of small adds. Maybe in the meantime we can help fund the cost by donating 5% of the cost of sponsoring? It will soon add up if we all do it? I am more then willing to pay 5% of each time i sponsor a site but only if i think the site has potential and therefore has no adds on it at all. Maybe we should do a shortlist of 3 sites and then get a poll done on which we all like best? We can then concentrate all of our efforts on one site?
Yeah, this is what I'm exactly thinking about. Now everyone is creating their own "themes.wordpress.net" website, but why not to put all our effort together and do just one and the best website? There wasn't be Wordpress if all of the developers was doing their own blog systems. Think about it.
Yours has potential but if I am honest, it has FAR too much advertising on it. It also orientated toward making money from blogs which to be honest, is not what the average blogger is interested in. Please dont take anything i say as rude, its just honest reflection which is what is needed here. Afterall, this is not a popularity contest but we want to help get a site to No.1.
Your right, it's totally up to *whoever* - and I actually had someone looking after the website for me for the last month+ and they've stuck up way to much advertising. The site is getting a makeover as we speak - and in 2 weeks will have a ton of more features being added on (user uploads, test run, etc etc etc) The site has been dropping 100K+ per week in alexa, and is ranked well for a couple of keywords (I didn't do any SEO on the site until a couple of days ago.. and it's still minimal at best)
Personally, I like the lite designs like http://themes.wordpress.net/ for service based sites. Another lite design is the theme as displayed on one of my blogs here which I personally designed: http://techfaction.com/ --I am still working on it though
This sucked. I had some sponsored themes out there that's now removed. This was a good market for the designers.. what shall we do now? I have uploaded my themes to several sites, and while I get about 500+ downloads on themes.wordpress.net, I'm lucky if I ever reach 10 downloads on other sites.. this sucks so bad..
This is why we need to get behind a couple of sites with the most potential. Then we will have a new themes.wordpress.net which does allow sponsored themes
themes.wordpress.net will again take themes in next few days after they completely check the new theme viewer version 3.0 , As matt says they only accept themes who have one sponsored link , and user can also upload there previous themes after removal of sponsor links. so don't be afraid so much with in few days they will again take our themes but with one sponsor link & Design by link. Matt also said that they will not accept footer encrypted themes , because wordpress and its thems comes under gpl and you can't bound any user , to place your links on his site if user want he can remove all links of designer and sponsors , so strange , means there is now value of designers. namastey
I don't know if this is what you are saying or not, but 'sponsors' who have paid to have their links on your themes won't be to happy if you remove them so you can upload the themes on the website. Also, just because WP is under the GPL, does not mean a template you create has to be to. That is the only part that's bugging me.
i agreed with you and wrote here ,that is said by matt , i will not wupload any of my theme withour sponsor links and i am working for my own theme site to permote my themes better namastey.
