I am actually agnostic, but just interested in your response to this question... Let's pretend this was not the end of the world, but Jesus had the ability to come back and take full control over the earth for just one day and then return to heaven. What would his top 3 priorities be? What are the 3 things Jesus would do to make this a better world?
OK... 1) World peace. I am not sure how he would do this but somehow stop us all from wanting to hurt each other. 2) Make sure every one in the world has basic food, shelter and clothing. 3) Then he could eliminate and cure all diseases from earth (like cancer). I'm sure I could think of more, but those ideas were the first I thought of
Those would be the first three things I could think of if "Jesus" or a magic "leprechaun" granted me 3 wishes But let's have some fun with this, so we got billions of really happy people free of disease. Do you think we run into an overpopulation issue at some point?
Rebecca, I have a question. Do you believe that god still has control over the world, or the term "God willing" has become obsolete now ?
I am agnostic and not really sure if god exists. If god does exists, he must not be in control of the world OR he is a very bad god. WebdevHowto-"But let's have some fun with this, so we got billions of really happy people free of disease. Do you think we run into an overpopulation issue at some point?" If Jesus cured all the people and thereby created an overpopulation problem, he could fix that problem as well.
But I thought we only gave him 3 things he could do. I realize I am being antagonistic with this but it is just for the discussion.
And what would that be? If I only had one wish of course that would be for unlimited wishes, as naive as that sounds.
Well, if he could not help us at all in the future I would still want him to cure all the people with diseases. I would rather have them live and then try to deal with the problem of overpopulation vs. Letting people die because they would create a problem. That is just my personal opinion. What are the 3 things you think Jesus should do?
He will make sure that people won't crucify him again. He will make sure that Bill Gates doesn't release the next version of Windows. And finally, kick the 12th Imam off his balls
Naive? LMAO.. give your brain some exercise The only wish I'll ask would be - "Whatever I ask for, Whenever I ask for, must be fulfilled" You be happy with three wishes, I'll enjoy my lifetime wish.
Preach the Word of God. Heal the sick. Forgive sins. Give hope to all those who are suffiring one way or another. (This time He won't let anyone crucify Him.)
I like yourself am agnostic, not to be confused with someone who is not spiritual because I am spiritual. I do believe in something greater than ourselves but I don't subscribe to a religion to tell me how to incorporate that belief into my experience of the world. So to answer the question of what I think Jesus would do, I don’t believe in Jesus anymore than I believe in Santa Claus.
Rebecca, Jesus wouldn't do anything differently than he did when he first came to earth and that was to point all people to God's Kingdom as being the only way to resolve the problems of mankind. That is why the 'Lord's Prayer' says "thy Kingdom come, they will be done on earth ...". Although when on earth he did perform some miracles, including raising some from the dead, that was not his primary objective - he was never known as the 'miracle-worker', he was known as the 'Great Teacher' because he taught people how to draw close to God. At one point the people wanted to make him a king but he withdrew from them as it was never his intention to 'take over' worlds affairs in this way. If he came back for a day, when he left again it would still leave this old system of things with its governments, wars and corruption, the prophecy at Daniel 2:44 shows that God's Kingdom will remove all human governments and replace them with God's government:- "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever". It was always Jesus intention to follow God's will for him to be put to death as that provided the atonement sacrifice for forgiveness of sins for those who would exercise faith in him. In due course of time Jesus will give his attention to the earth but not to return as a man and try to convince men to change their ways but rather as a 'warrior king' to bring the wicked to their end and establish God's Kingdom of righteous rulership as Daniel 2:44 said.
