    Hello

What can I do, incase of a govt. ban on my site ?

What can I do, if the Govt. filters my domain through the ISPs ?

Any ideas, suggestions are welcome :)

Have you tried using anonymous proxy servers?
From my experience, it's quite hard to bypass the government's ban, but can be done.

why would the govt filter your site?

that sounds unusual, is it a common thing and is there any way to appeal against it?

Government don't usually filter or ban websites unless it is providing illegal contents or one which is against the government or some groups of society. If you do not do such stuffs, you should not need to worry about a ban. But if you are banned and you know you are doing everything above board then you could appeal to the government that ban you.

I won't be surprised if the government of Bangladesh banned adult and dating sites, for example. So, if you have a dating site (especially if it's in English), one day or another the access will be restricted, so the only way to update it would be through proxy servers.

    Thanks guys.

No - I am not talking about adult sites. Surprisingly - the 6th most visited site in Bangladesh is a porn community. They even have regular get to gethers !

The site I am talking about ( URL not given ) is a site that promotes anarchy against a military regime and puppet governmnet.

The govt. can ban the site like this :

    - ask the national gateways to ban our domain alias.
    - ban the server ip.

incase the server ip is blocked only, I can simply change the IP of the server - and the problems would be solved. but if they block the domain, as a whole there isnt anything i can do.

Users would have to use proxy servers to get into the site - but I wonder really, how many people are aware that proxy servers exist - here in Bangladesh.

Well, personally I don't think it is a wise idea to run such a site. I know there are such things as free speech and all that but you cannot do so if the government would be hounding you down. Doing such sites against the government of the land would not only get you ban but probably some jail term under the nation's national security act.

Ah. That means that your site is mostly for local (Bangladesh) audience. In this case, you can simply forget about it... Average users don't even know that proxy servers exist.
