I do not know why people spend time putting links in directories. They are like soo dead. Think about it. Search engines do not give your directory links any importance. And you do not get any traffic from them So why waste your time. Why not just invest your efforts in a social network. Soo much more effective
I think it really depends on the site you are promoting. I had a site that I did not promote in the social networks and it made first page on digg, picked up on del.icio.us, stumbleupon and a few others and saw explosive (compared to normal) traffic for a while, but 99% of that traffic was completely useless. Guess how folks found that site? Because I used directory links to get ranked in the SERPs. Search engine traffic >>>>>>>> social network traffic.
Well one thing for sure the OP is 100% in-correct We just got over a 1700 uniques in the last 2 days from only one search engine Nothing more to say really is there
Thier is none its just him trying to get attention... Look at the footer link Scrutinize web hosts! it speaks for itself thx malcolm
what are you talking about ? Directories are not dead they are sronger than ever, google itself tell you to submit your website to directories and industry specific directories.. dude you did choose the wrong section of the forum to "hate" on directories, there are so many directories owners here.. they are promoting, improving and investing in their directories like crazy... so i just hope that you wont turn red very soon
You are right. They are dead. DEAD ON! My serps increased hugely from just directory submitting! Thanks.
I think this one just wanted to stir up something, maybe bored or something. Directories are far from dead buddy!
Similar with frogengine, a few new keywords hit and people use it to actually find things. Most of my traffic comes from my blog though. The directory is actually just a part of the site, but of course the part that makes the money, everything else is just for fun more or less.
Well I have to say, coming to a directory webmaster forum and claiming that directories are dead is like going to a mac forum and saying that Windows rulez.
One thing for sure you picked the wrong place to post that sh*t. Just had to send you some red for a worthless post. Thanks Brian
