Directory owners - how many of you truly focus on the visitors need. I am not talking about the link hungry webmaster as a visitor - i am talking abuout the REAL visitor who come to your site and click on a link to find information. Truly, how many of you have honestly devoted time to build a real resource database for users?

Both of you are wrong ,the directory market is still at a nascent stage

once it develops .,it will act as a alternative source of information!

I agree with pctec, Directories primarily offer high quality backlinks so that your site SERPs are higher... please correct if I am wrong.

    With all due respect...
Directories, no matter how BIG, will never take the place of a search engine that strives to index ALL websites on the internet.

The directory is alive and kicking.

Look after it, nurture it and people look it and find what they want just as long as you ain't too hungry and approve all sites that submit.

Approve good sites - reject bad sites.

Bad sites equal no return visitors simply becasue they do not find what they came for - could you twist their mind and make them look at other things is the question?

At this stage, directories are mainly for webmasters, there is no profit in the real visitor, but as the market progresses, I will see a change to meet the real visitors needs!

I think directories started as one thing but are maturing and morphing into much more than just a bunch of listings. Creative folks are adding all types of unqiue and interesting content to make directories more valuable to the end-user. Just the release of the new phpld scripts are an example of that, now you can incorporate articles, details page and more into making the experience more rich for the visitors.

Now there are lot of directories on net. So its now become a waste, i think we may not get that benefits from these, but i am not saying it won't help at all..

I am pretty sure that you are wrong !

There is proverb I can remember which says that

"United We stand Divided We fall"

I have given a clue to you , by this you can understand what I am talking about and my another project is some thing very much related to Free directories!

But I have not made my mind about paid directories!
