no not true, Vista doesnt need that much RAM.
im using Vista about 3 weeks. and Vista need about 400 MB to 512 MB.

and i love Vista, it is way better than XP.
once you use Vista, you wont go back to xp.

Personally, XP works nicely for me and I can't afford to fork out the extra $$$ for Vista, There are sooo many versions too, sheesh, If I want to even touch some of the games I play, there is no way I can do so with Vista..

I'll admit that XP works for me and always has, but I was messing around with Vista in PCworld, and the differenc struck me, everything clunky and unseemly and annoying in XP had been removed, and replaced by sleek interchange and stylish graphics. Since I spend many hours at my computer, graphics and style and easiness on the eye do make a difference to me.

To all of you linux bomb-heads who keep going on about how much better Linux is, why not try getting your own thread instead of stealing one about XP/Vista, and your software would run on my hardware, yet XP will, nice :)

I tried it on a friends brand new laptop and it was sooo slow :(

Last week I ordered a new desktop PC from Dell and I made sure I bought it with XP pro installed rather then Vista ;)

Way too much security crap. Crashes very easily. Hardware has a really hard time running regularly. Vista drains laptop batterys. Graphics card HAS to be DirectX compatible etc etc etc. Users are just better off finding a Vista Graphics download somewhere and make there computer look like Vista rather than be Vista. My computer look just like it has Vista on it, but it's running XP. Wasnt very difficult. Vista's just too much hassle. End of story.

buddy you need minimum 1GB ram, to run windows Vista.
caz Vista will eat up minimum 400 to 512 MB alone.
