I just blogged about this on my blog: http://www.myraphan.com/wordpressnet-sponsor-theme-ban-for-the-best/ Anyways, keep posting updates, I'm watching this carefully If you want some link love in the posts (places where you can promote WP themes for free) PM or comment me
HeHe... The knucklehead actually did it! I see that over 30 of my sponsored themes have been removed, but I still have plenty of my non-sponsored themes up there, which is nice... How long will it be before people just start uploading new themes with "Designed by (sponsored link)" to get around the situation?
They were actually doing that. Unfortunately it is easy to know if that link is really a designers or not. But maybe there will be some other hacks, we will see.
as long as we can promote our design portfolios, that's a plus Yes, it is obvious, since when can directory owners design themes
1 of my theme is still in, but i guess most people will be uploading at wpthemesfree.com from now on. UPDATE: I have compiled a Top 10 list of alternative wordpress themes sites, please bookmark it or add your URL via the comments.
anyone tried to log at http://themes.wordpress.net/ ? coz i think they temporarily disabled the login page for registered users
yes they currently disabled the login page and you cannot upload themes since they are still updating the site and making changes.
The funnny (and also good) thing all about this is that Download+Test run links are still working, so the themes are still on the server. This is good because of some links which can't be updated.
I'm not looking for moderators at this time for wpskins.org itself, I am getting a report system and many more options added to the script right now.... But, for the forum (marketplace) I will definitely need some moderators who know about wordpress! Contact me via PM if you are interested - this goes to everyone else as well!
I think it is popular because it is easy to view/test/browse themes You have a blog? It sound's kind of wrong, someone's butt just got bet. You know I visualise things very well. Maybe we should upload themes with a message to tell them so? Maybe a corner ribbon? Or just themes' description area.
Design suggestion/improvement for theme sites. 1)Make the overall colour of the site white so that you don't influence the mood of your users. 2)Don't use too many colours on your design, too distracting, the themes should be the focal point 3)Keep everything simple, neat, clean 4)Don't use too many graphics on the design, especially fanciful ones.
Who would pay for links on ugly themes? Good themes = More money = Good themes Bad themes = no money = free themes --Sorry, didn't realise I have so many replies next to each other. I read, quote, reply everytime I see something I should reply to, this is the spirit of discussion. You can't expect me to read 7 pages, copy and paste it in notepad and quote all in a single reply.
komirad, good discussions - but like you said.... quoting so much isn't a good thing lol. I would put them all together in one post before you receive some infractions my friend!
he just got back from a Ban! Okay, I'm going to write a blog post about: http://www.wpskins.org/ tomorrow which will be published in 2 - 3 days. Diggers would help out a lot It'll just be a post about plans for the site and such (I'm going to have to ask you a few questions Fanaddict ) If you have a Wordpress theme site and would like a free blog post too, PM Me.
Remember to stumble upon in "weblogs" category Damn the rules! I must go through all these trouble so that others will go through the trouble for editing when they reply me. I WANT JUSTICE! Moreover, short replies = easy to read = more people read Lumping everything into one post SUCKS!
I'd be very thankful if you blogged about http://themes.rock-kitty.net but it's not online yet. It will be ready in about a week, I need some coding done first.
