I have $500 to spend on my blog - The Debt Weblog. How would be the best way to spend it, or should I save my money and do everything the long/hard way? I would like to end up with a PR of 3 or better within 6 months from now. All major search engines have spidered my site. I am adding 1 new post per day (excluding weekends).
First off, I would wait with spending any money until you have a better understanding of the type of visitors you are getting, where they are coming from, and what type of information they are looking for. So do some market research before you do anything else. You might want to look around for a theme that might be more attractive to your users. You shouldn't have to pay for anything initially, since there are plenty of free ones available, but ultimately you may want to spend some money on a theme. That would be up to you. Where you might want to put some money, is into some SEO work. The person who did the work on my site (he can be reached thru a link on my site), was relatively inexpensive and did a good job of cleaning up lots of problems on my site that were causing SEO issues. I would recommend him for limited budgets, as you have. Hope this helps, Good luck! Rich
Ok, I have gone with a free template that certainly improves on the design of the blog. Might consider paying for a custom template a little later on.
You need to buy a backlink from some pr4 websites with many indexed pages...then in next update your pr would increase and Google shows in top articles with top PR.....so after that you would get search engine traffic too.... Just keep on posting new contents and analyze visitors..stats...all those..how many search engine traffic u get....
Look at the one in my signature, it's live only since January, from March (April?) and still is PR3, a few money (20-30$) invested only, the rest was trough my work on link building here on DP. If I (newbie) could do it, you can too.
Good to know, thanks for the encouragement. At the moment I have uploaded a more attractive template, created and submitted a Googl sitemap - using the Google Sitemap Plugin for Wordpress, and am now working towards validating all my html.
haha I wouldn't there are better things you can spend 500 dollars on. Things that will actually make your money back
I wouldn't go for a review from John Chow, as Legendary Posting said, I doubt his readers would invest more than a quick "hello, cool site" comment, or beg you for a linkback or something.
i'd concentrate more on link sales and unique content for your site than anything else until the end of the month. Then you can either start to advertise (adbrite, adwords, etc) or spend the money on dp on various services to improve your site. Maybe even go as far as a purchasing a template?
Thanks mmay, this is pretty much what I am going to do. I figure there is no point spending anything until there is a reasonable amount of content on there. I have turned off adsense in the mean time. I may however buy a template before then as the one I have has some shortfalls which make it hard to read - not a good thing for a blog!
