I just noticed that http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/news/breakingnews/ now has YPN ads. This is Australias biggest online news site and I found it interesting to see they have switched from Google to Yahoo! News.com.au is owned by NewsCorp. Will be interesting to see if the other Murdoch online businesses (MySpace) will be switching over. Unfortunately, YPN is still only open to the US though....
thing is the site is a Australian site yet its probly hosted in the USA and owned by USA people so this is why they have YPN, No YPN will not be going on myspace because if you know any thing at all about myspace and google ads...google paid news corp 560 million to show ads on their site and also the search box, for a number of years so theirs no way they would break the contract.
but still he has a valid point. If YPN does not pay for international traffic, how will they pay for austrlian traffic? now dont tell me, that this site is read by americans It seems YPN has started a closed beta with premium publishers. Secret deal huh?
All valid points. NewsCorp is an Aussie business with US Interests A majority of News.com.au visitors would be Aussie. YPN is only for US, so it must be a special agreement between News Corp and Yahoo! Apart from MySpace News Corp also own: IGN Rotten Tomatoes And.... http://www.newscorp.com/operations/other.html# Will be interesting to see if the others will switch to YPN
I know what you guys are referring to it is a raw deal for YPN publishers who have been banned in the USA for international traffic, Yet may be this is a good sign for Australian webmasters like myself, maby Yahoo is testing out things by using such a large site such as news.com.au and seeing how the clicks convert? Could be good news for Australian webmasters?
They are not running YPN ads... they are runnings ads as a strategic partner. If you have more than 20 million page views, you can do the same.
