You go to google adwords.. and with high competition more likely you will loose all your money with very little exposure.. For example 5000 visitor will minimum cost 250$ there and for high paying keywords you will be bank crupt 2. You try link buidling directory submission search engine optimization still see your site in 10000 position in google with little and no traffic. This tear your head out. Why cause its slow and most sluggish way to drive visitors then instantly. 3. You try spamming myspace craiglist or any other bookmarking sites only to find 100-200 visitors per site and then may be taking guranteed risk of suspend of your hosting or affiliate membership. 4. You try to find traffic exchange you view mine i view yours or cheaper ppc ptr.. Only to find nobody interested in your site. Kind of bot click. now you are angry.. fedup .. You go to your local newspapper with highest subscriber and flash a paper ad and see that massive exposure(depending on the country). You go to local tv and buy a 30 sec commercial and see massive exposure to your site. Almost everyone in the city knows your site now. If its a bad one everyone on the city or locality or country now knows your site sucks. If its a good one then everyone comes there regularly. If its a scam then then people go file case against you in huge volume. Not only tv and newspaper or print media gives you highest exposure. Online and off line advertising has one goal similar - getting visitors. With off line advertising you will see the results instantly. But online isn't like that, you have to wait. Its a painful slow way. No matter what the marketing etc people says thats what it is. Each TV and newspaper have how many readers/viewers? A lot. How many website have that? Not too many. You can have almost the same affect, if not little less, if you advertise on those sites in my opinion.
True that online marketing is slow (success doesn't happen overnight) but the effect isn't as much as the offline marketing. Well, this is based on my experience, I don't know about other people. It seems that the online method that I used keep bringing back more visitor and signup rather than the offline method.
I agree that online marketing takes some time to grow but more often than not, most people starts with the wrong steps! surf4fun, sorry I have to tell you with compassion that you should have do some market research first before choosing the product you want to sell to people. How do you know people will buy your product? Even though you are selling a hot product, you still need to know what are the keywords people will type into the search engine to "buy" rather than to find information. For example: "apple ipod" = finding details on ipod "ipod 40GB Black" = probably checking the features,functions "buy Apple iPod Mini (Pink) 4GB MP3 Player" = buying signals Most people thought that online marketing can earn quick money and they bought a few ebooks, follow the methods exactly and before they realise, they burn thousands of dollars. If only they have done enough research, they will see how they can leverage on adwords to make tons of profits!!
Hi friend It not the question of making money.. Or what superb product service site you have.. Its the question of exposure.. Sorry if i cannot express my english well. I know you will say local tv or paper is not going world wide. And it can only bring local visitors. If I want 1 million visitors or 1 million people to know about my site.. What do i do? Sale or revenue is second subject. I do link buiding?? This will take ages before 1million people know about my site or service. I buy google clicks?? I will be poorest on earth by doing that. I buy cheap traffic exchange ptr ppc clicks? They are as worth as bot or robot clicks. I say you view mine I view yours. This will take forever. Making money is whole different issue. You can make money even with 100 people coming to your site daily. And you can even not make much with 100 000 people coming to your site. Anyways i hear about press realease and article directory submission Can any of you experienced really tell me How effective is that how much people can know about say a new social bookmarking site or free dating site by these method Or how i find sites where i can advertise for fixed cost instead of ripping pay per click. Example Say I want to rotate my site banner on top of youtube for 1 day. Note I cannot afford 1million dollar for 1million views. So even if youtube will bring me 1million visitors dont give example that is not affordable for most of us. Make it 250$ to 1000$ max. And give example of 50 000 to 100 000 traffic bringing sites.
One thing about off line advertising is you get only 5-10 minutes right after the ad to get response from people. If you dont get it by then, think you failed. Online gives you more time. But one thing about online ads, you have to be little knowledgeable what you do. There are lot of SEO and other people who will fool people get there money not doing much good work. In my opinion I would suggest doing these: Build links using: --------------- - Directory submission PR 6-7-8(at least 5) - Press release or article submission to get good amount of links (it has to be well written) - Pay limited amount $5/day on google/yahoo..... - Post regularly on high PR forums. - Make sure your pages have write keywords. Make it natural, with sentences. - Get listed on social bookmarks - Change your site content periodically, once in a month. These are initial, but there are more....
Link-baiting can also help you with exposure. Include your site's URL to your forum and email signatures so people will see it when they read your posts and messages. Your priority is to be at the top or search engine results whenever keywords pertaining to your site are searched. Make sure that your site is optimized enough for this and to make good PR rating sites link back to you. Try to avoid anything that would ban you because you will lose your credibility this way.
Link baiting is a great great thing, if you can do it. But its very difficult also. I am interested learning more about it. Any good read for this?
I don't really have any material on this right now but most of what I know about link baiting came from SEO sites and forums where many experts gather. What they told me is to regularly come up with interesting material - weekly is good but daily is better. If your content is interesting enough, people will link back to you without you even asking them to. These interesting material can be in the form of articles, promo material, contests, downloads, etc.
