What is the best Wiki software

I want to put a wiki package on a website that I am building. Something like the wikipedia. I would like to know if anyone knows the best open source software for this application. I need control over who edits the articles and who starts the articles. any advise would be appreciated.

I've been looking for an Open Source solution aswell. Been unable to find one.

Why not just use Meta Wiki? It's defiantly proven traffic wise and it's free.. What else can you ask for?
