I feel GA is having some issues, I had earlier Extremetraffic which was showing about 1500Uniques a day where as GA shows just 850+ Grrrrr I will have to go back to Extreme traffic I guess.

Google Analytics are not showing results as fast as Googe Adsense Reports.
You need to wait 2 or 3 days, to "analyze" that day with Google Analytics.

No, I'm only saying that you can't track your visitors on real-time. You need to wait only a couple of days and browse through Google Analytics.
Sometimes I use "WebLog Expert" program (works with raw .log files), but I prefer Google Analytics: is pretty accurate, and provide all stats I need and more.

Well yes, indeed GA is one of the best free website stats analyze software that we can find out there even tho as ajsa mentioned it is not in real time. It has a delay of couple hours and there for it is best to analyze the stats the day after.

i found a solution to my GA problem. i have found and started using a wordpress plugin that is real time and tracks my visitors and were they come from etc.

it has proven to be a very useful plugin.
