Bush lower than Carter

President Bush registers the lowest approval rating of his presidency—making him the least popular president since Nixon

In the new poll, conducted Monday and Tuesday nights, President Bush’s approval rating has reached a record low. Only 26 percent of Americans, just over one in four, approve of the job the 43rd president is doing; while, a record 65 percent disapprove, including nearly a third of Republicans.
    .................
But the 26 percent rating puts Bush lower than Jimmy Carter, who sunk to his nadir of 28 percent in a Gallup poll in June 1979. In fact, the only president in the last 35 years to score lower than Bush is Richard Nixon. Nixon’s approval rating tumbled to 23 percent in January 1974, seven months before his resignation over the botched Watergate break-in.
    ...............
Bush scores record or near record lows on every major issue: from the economy (34 percent approve, 60 percent disapprove) to health care (28 percent approve, 61 percent disapprove) to immigration (23 percent approve, 63 percent disapprove). And—in the worst news, perhaps, for the crowded field of Republicans hoping to succeed Bush in 2008—50 percent of Americans disapprove of the president’s handling of terrorism and homeland security. Only 43 percent approve, on an issue that has been the GOP’s trump card in national elections since 9/11.

remind me why bush's approval numbers matter anymore?

He's irrelevant since the nov 2006 elections. he can't run again in 2008. who approves of him doesn't matter.

he isn't doing anything anyways. other than pushing a bill (amnesty) that no one wants passed anyways.

To be fair, really we never give any of our presidents high ratings:

    Clinton
    36% approval 5/26-27/93 Newsweek

    G.H.W. Bush
    29% approval 7/31-8/2/92 Gallup

    Reagan
    35% approval 1/28-31/83 Gallup

    Carter
    28% approval 6/29-7/2/79 Gallup

    Ford
    37% approval 1/10-13/75 & 3/28-31/75 Gallup

    Nixon
    23% approval 1/4-7/74 Gallup

    Johnson
    35% approval 8/7-12/68 Gallup

    Kennedy
    56% approval 9/12-17/63 Gallup

    Eisenhower
    48% approval 3/27-4/1/58 Gallup

    Truman
    22% approval 2/9-14/52 Gallup

    Roosevelt
    48% approval 8/18-24/39 Gallup

    source

That is probably why they age so rapidly in office, look at the before and after pictures!

Naturally Gworld, it isn't like you want a dirty bomb suspect lose on the streets & blamed America for locking him up by claiming it's a "sad day for America" in the toic title, is it?

Forums are in text format & with uneditable posts, it's kinda hard to say you never said something:(

Another member who can see you for what you are:

Are you trying to act like Gtech? What a moron !!

Look at that post that you object and tell us in what part of it I was wrong. Are you aware that later on U.S. Supreme court agreed with the same position as I posted in that thread and Bush administration was forced to charge him? Are you calling the U.S. supreme court terrorist supporters?
I am not only not denying anything in that post but I am also proud of it because I defended the rule of law in the society when it was not popular to defend the democratic values and the law because of the atmosphere of panic and mass hysteria produced by this administration.

The second link is also interesting, one moron that is agreeing with another moron by admitting that they have no argument for their BS postings.

We all know that you don't know anything and you are just basically an English version of American white trash but do you have to prove it again and again in every post?

Here is another "Pro-terrorist" according to Gtech and toopac:

    Connecticut post June 2007

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19212079/

But what does he know in comparison with ex-corporal Gtech and toopac, he is just a U.S. Senator and presidential candidate.

It is also interesting to notice this:

Posted in Sad day for America in April 2005

It is too bad that American politicians needed more than 2 years to get the moral courage to say the same thing.

Yes what a moron for getting right up your nose;)

That's their job what's you fascination? oh yes law & order but only in regard to certain types;)

Yes you did well Gworld defend what you believe in.

Everyone is a moron if they don't defend fair rights for certain types, we know Gworld, that's nothing new.

It's obvious that you don't know anything apart from being pro-american, anti-terrorist & defending terrorists rights:)

Gworld you only take interest in terrorists rights or if their treated fairly not animal rights, not teachers rights, not workers rights etc that in it's self says a lot but a idiot like you like to hide behind words, "where did i say i'm interested in terrorists rights?" haha get a life!

Who really gives a shit? lets see Gworld, the detainees & people that want to be fair to those nice guys holed up in Gitmo for mowing their grass 1in to low & Bush thinking i'm kinda pissed off with that, stick him Gitmo as a enemy combatant.

No, you are a moron because you prove time after time that you are just the English version of American white trash that has nothing of interest to say. ;)

So many lines in your post and nothing of value, just a desperate attempt of a wanna be Gtech to emulate him and failing as miserably as the teacher. ;)

Unlike you, I think and I am capable of forming an opinion about what is right or wrong and therefore I care.

If your old enough to remember. Interest rates and inflation were both in the double digits under Carter.

    Edge: Bush

Yes we can tell your doing a great job of ignoring me, your obsessed;)

I hope you don't sit in your basement refreshing my profile for 20 minutes to see the last activity to find out what i'm doing on DP, like you admitted to doing to GTech, because there's a word for that behavior NUTTER:D

I doubt i give as much of a damn about Bush than you do to all the nutters like Rosie O'Donnell & Alex Jones as that's your religion;)

When you don't agree with far Left-Wingers, you will get their vitriol!

You will be call "moron", "white trash", "stupid", and so on.........

    It NEVER fails!

No matter the type of forum or what.

    I clearly see what happens.

The facts are often ignored.....like the "economy" issues......it was horrible under Carter (HE WAS THE WORST PRESIDENT, BAR NONE) and when you bring up cold, hard facts that fly in the face of the "Bash Bushers", well you get slammed and called names.

    So be it.

    I can take it.

As far as the polls go...........ask yourself this question.........don't you think that a poll asking each person what the EXACT figures (say inflation or joblessness) REALLY are, before you poll them on their opinons?

Seems to me that would be more accurate.

And for gworld, you DO have a history of anti-American bias. Your posts speak volumes, and you know what? You have that right.

Just please be honest. You hate the USA and hey, you don't like us in the US, that is YOUR problem.

To the others on the thread who stand up for themselves, ROCK ON!

    Jack:)

Defending the U.S. Constitution and the democratic values that U.S. were built on is considered anti-American bias and hate the USA during Bush administration. I suppose this is understandable from the supporters of a guy who considers the Constitution just a piece of paper.

hmm, 56, 48 (twice) is much higher than 26, there's no president out there that would have 90-100 mark.
