I constantly hear about fresh content, what exactly constitutes this? Does each page need to have new information on it or you can have a news and article section that is updated constantly would that be good enough fresh content for the whole website?

Articles or news can be both considered fresh content. You don't necessarily need to come up with an idea for an article that is not found anywhere else. There's only a few people that generate 100% original content. What you can do instead is check you competitor's article, add more information to it, add pictures and videos. This will make your article original.

Loads of people are always talking about fresh content. Most sites rank perfectly fine with an update every 5 years.

You don't need to keep adding fresh content just for the sake of it.

Put rss feeds with relevant content on some of your pages - if they update every 24 hours - the search engines will love you!

Nice! Do you have rss feeds on them or something? Perhaps a front-end blog?

This is always the big question......how often do you really need "fresh" content to continue to rank for your chosen keywords?

Just think of it this way, adding fresh content will also increase your earnings, will benefit you users etc.. So why not do it ?

It will sure not harm you in anyway, if you have the chance to add fresh content add it as often as you can.

    True,

And it really doesn't take that much effort to update it, either.

I always see a direct benefit, when I do add new content.

It does take a little extra work, but the pay-off is big.

A new article / blog post / update every day, or a few times a week, will certainly be advisable.

You can even use RSS or other kind of Syndication on your website for new contents..

all that matters in this search engine environment is content.content is the king.fresh content doesn't mean that the matter you publish needs to so fresh and latest.you can post about prehistoric times, but what matters is how original your content is.if you have just copied another site's content and post it in yours, believe me you are not going to get any where.instead try to write on that topic yourself,it will surely do good.

PS:another trick is that instead of copying down another site's content what you can do is,read each line, then re-write it again on your own words, voila there is your fresh content
