Life is way too short not to have an RC plane. You can get really cheap Slow Stick deals on eBay - including everything you need to get flying (incl radio gear).
that thing is sweet. what is the range on it? I wondered about that but I would have figured that I would have been notified as such
Is there a specialized forum or something? I'm interested, but a few things I would need to ask, such as the shutter thing... Thanks!
The range is literally out of sight. I would lose sight of the plane long before I was out of radio range. In fact I have lost sight of it a few times - not a nice feeling looking up at an empty sky. Try here.
What did you do? Blindly make a turn and hope for the best? Or go look for it somewhere? And how long does it fly for, on full charge and with new batteries? I assume that they are some lithium ones... Thanks for any further info...
n o lie, I would be sharting myself if that were the case! not like I'm about to jump into the scene anytime soon but how much have you got sunk into it if you don't mind me asking. and if you do mind - suck on it
I've had other people spot it for me, and if it's a quiet enough day I can usually just hear the prop if I stick it on full throttle. Yep, batteries are LiPos - you can use ye olde NiMH, they're way cheaper but they're nowhere near as light. With a good 3 cell 2000mah LiPo pack I can keep the SS in the air for over 30 mins - the SS will happily glide on zero throttle for ages. Well I've got 4 planes, so the radio gear X 4 adds up pretty quicky, then there's motors and batteries on top of all that. I don't really even want to think about how much I've spent. I've seen entry level Slow Stick package deals for a few hundred (US) dollars on eBay - including all the radio gear. So it's not really too expensive to get flying with a real hobby grade plane. The problem is it's hard to stop.
That's an awesome link to the AP forum! Thanks! And hi timsdd, you're everywhere! (I'd like to see your ap photos too, and the karting ones, don't forget!)
The vast green landscape in the video is very beautiful. I am so impressed by the vivid green grass of the land. Flying an RC plane seems interesting...
