does yahoo dir benefit seo much?

Just wondering what your experiences are. Is it worth the $300/year? :|

Some people swear it's worth it.
Still I don't think you will find out until you pay once.

 

I think it is useful.I have recieved decent traffic since listing in yahoo directory.

 

I have always had good rankings without it but people do swear by it...

 

What if a person wants to cancel the listing after one year? Is that possible?

 

Quite easily - don't pay for the 2nd year, and they won't give you the listing

 

it may help you to get better Y search results but i'm not sure google

 

Will a link in the Yahoo dir even count towards PR or rank anymore? Since Google instated that ... whatever the hell it was, now they look down on paid links??

It will help your rankings on yahoo but on google I have not seen a positive sign.

 

here is a documenation straight from mr. cutts http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/how-to-report-paid-links/ in one of the Q/A's he states to verify whether the directory is a high quality directory before submitting to it, I would imagine the yahoo directory has a high quality when viewing by google so I think it is worth it. I have submitted one of my sites to the yahoo directory and I am pretty satisfied with it; will be submitting my other 2 sites to it in the near future...

I agree. I haven't seen any sign of it as a backlink as far as Google is concerned.
