I just picked up a cheap little Nikon L10 to use as my new aerial photography camera. Just thought the photographers and the RC nerds might be interested...
There's some really nice ways to remotely control the camera - a friend of mine makes a neat little PCB that lets the plane's receiver talk to the camera. But I use the cheap'n'nasty way - elastic bands and a servo. Watch the magic here (yes I'm so sad I put it on youtube)
The plane was running on empty, but I did manage to capture a few minutes before running flat... VIDEO HERE
I know exactly what's going on in my neighbourhood now Who has a pool, who has a yard full of car wrecks, who has a putting green etc..
out of sight! love the 1st pic rubber bands and servo ghetto shutter Aerial photography funny thing about mine http://www.flickr.com/photos/timsdd/ it's now "Pro" is wasn't before nor did I sign up for it! but I'm not complaining!!
haha nice. unfortunately for me all of my planes have been stored up for years and been ruined so they were tossed them in the fire pit the other day. sad sad day it was. plan on purchasing another one soon though. moving on to jets
Maybe it's got something to do with pic views/uploads, or how long you've been a flickr member... ----- Info on the plane: It might look dorky - but it can carry a lot of weight, and fly SLOWLY. Plane is a brushless/LiPo Slow Stick (video here). The planes are really cheap - but the electronics, motors, batteries, and radio gear can cost as much as you've got. Camera is a cheap n nasty 5mpx Nikon L10 - nothing special. Set on "sports" mode with a 2GB card, so I get 1000+ photos per flight - usually get about 5 good ones
someone purchased a membership for you. it's like $25 (a year?) if i recall correctly. they don't give away pro accounts for free but you can purchase them for other people.
