Will it blend? / Viral Marketing

Not sure if that has been posted on DP yet but that's just too impressive

1. Get the item everybody is talking about (an iPhone).
2. Destroy it with the product you are actually selling (a blender!)
3. Post it on YouTube.

Isn't the blender $400 or something? Who really needs that much power in a blender anyway?

 

If the blond guy at the end of "Fargo" had had the blender, he might not have been caught! He, clearly, needed it.

 

I think the "Will It Blend?" videos are the most clever viral videos around. I can't help but wonder how many blenders they've sold from those videos alone - they must be doing well if they keep blending/destroying stuff.

 

I love these guys! There are a whole bunch of videos from Blendtec on there showing them blend an ipod, hockey pucks, even a whole Thanksgiving dinner. What they need to do now is make enough money to do a late night infomercial. It would actually be worth it to watch!

 

Do you guys have other examples of viral campaigns having such a success?

 

I don't think it will help the sales directly but it sure will to effect their brand positively which will effect the sales.

 

I think that shows the power of something that catches people`s imagination and showing it on youtube.

Just think of the traffic you could get if you could put something like that on youtube.

You could buy something from a second hand shop or flea market to save money, blend it and gain a truck load of free traffic

 

the point is not blending it is viral marketing and the idea.If everyone blends somethink no one will get any traffic cause it will be ordinary.
