I have used nothing but PayPal for the longest time, and I am pretty fed up with them. Im looking for your suggestions before I choose who I will decide to use for my next payment processing company.

I will be selling services and digital goods, which PayPal has little to no support for. I'm tired of providing web services/digital goods and then have the buyer turn around and file a dispute or revoke the payment.

    Your suggestions?

Hmm. Interesting to know about. 4.9% + $1.00 though seems pretty steep. Thanks for the recommendation though.

I am about to launch some software products as well, and am looking for the same information.

Well, for a credit card processor, nothing matches or even come close to Paypal as far as fees are concerned.

However, ShareIt, Plimus and Regsoft specializes in digital products and they will do their best to protect yours and their interests. I have to agree that they are a shade more expensive but it is indeed worth it. At least I know that the money I receive for the sale of my software are secured. What you do is just factor in the cost of the payment processing to the price of your product so that you will make a profit.

If you attempt to cut the cost, you may ended up not being protected.

Yes, the processing charges dont really matter, as long as I know that once somebody pays me for a service or a digital product, I keep the money! They cant come back and take it away...

I even have a "NO REFUND, ALL SALES FINAL" policy for some of the stuff I do, but it does no good with paypal. Although, they dont really get involved and I usually keep my money, I have gotten money taken away before and its just a pain having to respond to the paypal disputes 5,000 times. The time it takes to do that takes away all of your profits.

Paypal works best with ebay auction and physical products and it does not work well for services or virtual products.

This is great stuff to know, as I am trying to move my revenue from a services based company to product (software) based company.

A couple questions. Are these companies essentially like any other payment processor, except they specialize in software? Anyone want to PM me their affiliate link so I can sign up with them? Bottom line on upfront costs if any? Which one is the best out of those listed?

Yes, they are primarily a payment processor and yes, they all specializes in software and virtual products.

Shareit and Regsoft are Digital River's companies. Plimus is independent at the moment. There are no upfront cost and they only take a cut from your sales price when there is a confirm sale.

I find Plimus to be easier to work with but all are pretty good. Plimus offers Paypal as a payment option without any service charge while Regsoft does charge an additional $3 for manual processing. They all however have a comprehensive measures when processing orders and some do get flagged for possible fraud and they are manually handled.

You could always sign up for all 3 and then see which you like best and use it. I use both Plimus and Regsoft at the moment.

I don't believe they do have affiliate links but you could sign up directly at their websites.

Based on my observation here, Paypal seems to have become a platform for kids or undesirables who uses illegal means to sign up and verify their accounts and that accounts for the high level of problems.

When you opt to use a proper credit card processor, you will weed out most of the undesirables.

Currently, with Plimus and Regsoft, I would get an average of about 2 to 3 chargebacks a year.
