9 Million Kids Without Health Insurance; War Rages On

The reality: by the time we reach the 5 yr mark, we will have spent approximately $500 billion for the War in Iraq, yet we have some 9 million children in America without the proper health insurance or no health insurance at all. For the current estomated cost of the war (some $443 billion), we could have insured over 265 million children for one year (see www.costofwar.com).

Cost of the War in Iraq (as of this post)
    $443,143,639,632

    What are YOUR Priorities?

Well, I hope yer kidding.. it'd be hard for a 9 yr old or such to do and provide for themselves. Health insurance for kids should be a mandated right, war should not. Don't leave home before you take care of your own is my motto.

Firstly another good thread dgrindly. Let's hope this stays on topic unlike your last one lol!!!

My thoughts are that the children will suffer, the BS war will continue, it has to because it is for the benefit of the New World Order for it to be that way. Sure many people are (finally) waking up and seeing it for the utter sham that it is but the people controlling Bush will ask him to veto any calls for withdrawal, and that is exactly what will happen.

The Illuminati need Iraq for it's strategic position and of course for it's OIL, there is simply no chance at all of the troops coming home any time soon, even though that is what the vast majority of people want, just have a read about some of the US Embassies being built, the people pulling Bush's string will be pulling even harder to ensure that public opinion swings back in favour of this sham war, I wouldn't be surprised to see a false flag as big as 9/11 within the next six months.

Do you need to be a socialist to care about other human beings? If so, that's a telling statement! lol

Caring about other people is not the same as forcing medical insurance on them...

I've heard many times here about Bush doing it all, what do you think, will the situation & US plans change after he leaves in 2008 ?

Who's forcing it? But it should be available to anyone who requires it.. as an option, not a replacement. No one, young or old, should have to go without quality medical care, food, or housing so we can wage war on others. Friends and neighbors first.. :D We take care of the problems we have at home, THEN we can start poking our collective noses elsewhere ;)

If you want to insure someone, no one stops you. You are perfectly free to add anyone you wish to your policy, make a new policy for them or whatever. Have you insured anyone recently?

If you, dgridley, get cancer and cannot pay your bills. Would you go to your neighbors' houses and demand that they pay your bills for you? If not; why would you elect politicians to do that for you?

Obama and insurance companies behind him. They don't really 'force' it I guess, you still will be able to avoid it. But you'll have to pay a few dollars a year for not having insurance.
Medical care? It IS available to anyone. Walk into any hospital, hand them the money and they'll give you service.

Or go to an emergency room, get a service and don't hand them the money.

So how many people here think people who don't have money should just die if they get sick?

I know most "conservatives" believe that deep down, yet they will rarely say it out loud.

My mother lives over there part of the year. She's on the Danish system. She says that you have to buy supplemental insurance because the government stuff doesn't cover as much as it used to. Agree?

i think you'll find that DK has only one state run health insurance and that your mother has to pay because she is only part time resident. and not paying full taxes to denmark if any.
Supplementary (that is substitutive) and complementary voluntary health insurance (VHI) both play a role in Denmark. Nearly a third of Danes purchase complementary insurance to cover spectacles, dentistry and pharmaceutical co-payments. Around 150,000 people – less than 5 per cent of the population, have supplementary VHI to jump waiting lists.

On the other hand in Europe there are people not getting the medical care they need because people go to the doctor for anything. "My ass itches today", "I've been having a headache every Monday morning for the past month", "My eyes get blurry when I'm on the pc more than 3 hours, is that normal?" etc.
When you really need to see a doctor and have to wait 3 weeks because others abuse the system visiting them when bored or wanting to ditch work, you will realize that indeed, the health care system in the U.S. is far from perfect, but does make a lot more sense.

It is true that people waste doctor's time but you dont have to wait anything close to 3 weeks. It is more like 1 week at the most and if it is urgent then there is no wait.

I wish people would stop judging and making assumptions before knowing the facts.
