I just started a programmers forum a month ago.

It's a pretty nice forum in term of design, with pretty huge investment at the beginning. Received pretty nice traffic on the first month, it was about 3000 unique visitors I think. It is also well promoted. However, I faced some difficulties to keep members active... Can anybody suggest me anything?

you should keep changing your sections in the forum.....this enhances the traffic a bit...and secondly try to get more traffic from adwords ...this will surely increase your traffic in Ks

Google Adwords works great, but if your using vBulletin, I highly recommend you to check out vBSeo.
