There are many who believe that affiliate marketing is dead. I for one believe that it is not dead but is dying. As more and more people are signing up for accounts with commission junction, azoogle, amazon, etc... affiliate marketing just doesn't have the money it once did. Think about it. There are so many people in the affiliate marketing business that the money is spread among them and no one person can become very rich. I believe the biggest mistake was to give out this secret. Had the entrepreneurs kept affiliate marketing to themselves, they would continue to make big bucks. But they opened their mouths because they thought doing so would allow them to earn even more money. What a mistake. There are still some secrets which can earn you up to $10,000/month but if anyone of those entrepreneurs who knows these secrets put them up for free or even for a price then there will be one day when affiliate marketing will totally be dead. A secret is only good so long as it is a secret. Let's hope that these secrets, the few which are left, remain secret so that affiliate marketing can survive.
i think people are becoming smarter. They seem to have learned how to distinguish between a real deal and an affiliate redirect and therefore affiliate marketing has lost the galore it once had.
No way is it dead.. It's thriving for us. In the right industry you can generate a lot of money with lead generation. Everyones in debt and we can help everyone from £4k to £1million.
I don't think affiliate marketing is dead or even dying. I think times are just changing, new marketing techniques need to be used and only the smartest will succeed. Survival of the fittest for ya.
I don't think it's dying, it's changing. Once the networks decide to get rid of all of the parasites, make changes in tracking and come up with something else to replace cookies, it will come back better than before.
Nothing ever dies. Arbitrage is not dead. Adsense is not dead. Affiliate marketing is sure heck not dead. Everything just evolves.
so true the key is to not be doing the exact same thing you did two years ago you have to adapt and change or you will be left dead in the water!
You are speaking about it as if it were a finite resource that had been mined out. It doesn't work like that. Businesses will always need third parties to help promote their products. Given profitable affiliate strategies may change with time, but affiliate marketing will last as long as the internet, probably longer.
hmm... interesting points. Well let's hope you people are right. Because I do not WANT affiliate marketing to die but being a pessimistic I usually look at the dark side.
Lol you gave me a good laugh. The skillful people will get rich, and the unskillful will lose. As simple as that.
marketing is going online buying is going online, so how is it possible to tell affiliate marketin is dying?
Businesses are growing and sales on the internet have been increasing year after year, so of course there will be more marketers online. As with any industry, it is a constantly changing field and only those that adapt themselves to the new changes will make it at all and only the select few will make a killing. People won't stop buying online. If you want to tap into a new market, hit up China. There are going through an amazing revolution that is very rare to see in a lifetime, and 1.3 billion people is a crapload to hit up. I am starting to see how I can capitalize off this, as should every other marketer here.
I had never built a webpage before Christmas 2006, now I am making an extra $2500+ a month with a market that has huge competition. I think I could have doubled my money if I didn't have to learn everything the hard way. They say there is something like 30,000 new people turning 18-21 and becoming consumers every day. I will take 1% of sales from them daily ;-)
In 2008, Affiliate marketers and partnerships will generate over $280 billion in sales. More and more people are using the internet for comparison shopping, reading reviews on products, looking for deals, etc. Affiliate marketing is not dead; it's evolving as many have stated before. The best protection against an evolving industry comes with your opt-in list, the core of your business. Think about guys like Joel Comm or corporations with thousands of newsletter subscribers, as long as they provide good content, they will have leads forever. I'm experimenting with product reviews and comparisons, but my long-term goal is to build a highly responsive list that I can interact with over and over again. Consumerism is alive and well. Just take a look at everyone's credit card debt.
Affiliate marketing is no way dead or even dying. I am an affiliate manager for an amazing rx program and don't see any problems in the industry. You just need to be creative
Affiliate marketing may be dead for those trying to make a quick dollar, but those who still put in the time and effort, and do it right are still doing very well. There are way too many sites in a box for affiliate marketing, which is why people think it's "dead", but it definitely isn't.
