How much is the media controlling our minds?

    Yeah. That's the question.
Because I've realized that all what people know here is what is broadcasted on FOX, BBC, ABC or CNN etc. But hardly anybody really knows the inside stories.
    What's your opinion?

It doesn't control mine anymore, I replaced TV and newspapers with books a few years ago. All they talk about is war in Iraq, nothing else. Iraq war is a non-issue... Getting information from Fox News is like receiving medical care from a plumber

That's exactly what I'm talking about.
But you'll know how the media is controlling some people from the following posts.

What I mean to say is that most people believe the media blindly, which they shouldn't.

I haven't watched TV at all for the past few months.

They do control your mindset and they're telling you all the time that you're a loser. That's how i see it.

In the past, the purpose of the media was simply to report the news. Just the facts, with no party affilliation or bias. You would just listen to what is going on in the world, take it all in and come to your own conclusion. Now, it seems like every news source has their own agenda and slant the reporting to fit their own bias. I no longer am watching the news(I can get my news from DP), I just keep my station set to comedy central and watch MADTV and stand up comedians.:)

But don't forget that South Park is a show that lives on providing satirical commentary about the news, pop culture, politics and a ton of other real world subjects. All in the Family did that too 30 years ago. If you look back even further to the 1940s when most people didn't own a television set and went to the movies for entertainment you would see short news reels. Some of those were heavily slanted pieces of propaganda.

Control of the media has always been around in some form or another.

The mainstream media is so utterly controlled that it controls pretty much most of the people and how they "see" news.

With the rise in people accessing the internet these days people are beginning to realise that a lot of what the mainstream media sprouts out is utter bullshit because they have access to other news sources that the controlled mainstream media are totally unable to control.

Anything that hits a controlled mainstream media network like CNN or ABC or FOX or the BBC is immediately picked up on by other mainstream media networks and subsidiaries and reported with fervour ad infinitum.

The BBC even has to nerve to say that it's completely unbiased, that is a massive lie.

Back in the 70's, 80's and early 90's the only view we had was what we saw on the T.V but now the cat is out of the bag and people are able to view things from a whole new perspective.

There is still a long long way to go but I think people are slowly waking up to the BS that "trusted" channels like FOCKS News are trying to tell them every day. They know it too. Bill O'Reilly and his neocon supporter Malkin, Hannity and others will always say things like "conspiracy website" "kooks" "anti-American websites" and just about anything else they are told to say in order to try and convince the sheeple that these are not good places to get info from. They are scared of people actually thinking for themselves and you can hear it in every nuance, especially O'Reilly, he's a dead giveaway.

Well it's been a Bush or a Clinton since 1981, do not bet against it.

When Hillary comes in in late 2008 expect another 8 years of a Clinton, that takes up up to 2016. 35 years of these two scumbag families.

And Americans still think they live in a democracy LMFAO!!

You're right, in Europe and the U.S. we don't have unbiased and quality channels such as Al Jezeera.

Al-Jazeera sp? Is the most bias channel you can ever watch, it is completely aimed at catering to the needs of terrorists, publicity. That channel should be banned and condemned by western coutries, but sadly i still see it on Sky, maybe our government feels that it would be "politically incorrect" to ban the channel

Once in a while I tune in to have a good laugh or find answers to so much of the insanity going on in the world. I think it's good for people to be able to see mindcontrol first hand. But you're right, the wrong person watching it can be misled easily.

Al Jezeera is really depressing to watch. I can't even watch it for more than 5-10 minutes. Makes you appreciate the variety of cabel channels we have. heh
