What annoys you the most?

Being the owner of a paid (although recip is free) directory, I don't really get the grief the free directory owners get from spam and things

My biggest gripe right now is sites trying to use the same link to reciprocate. I am very tempted to turn recip off and probably should. I just kind of feel for the broke webmaster who can't afford a link

Im interested in hearing other concerns directory owners have

    Happy Friday

Just make it a paid directory with a small review fee. This will help you with this issue.

I hate that also and I see it all the time. What really makes me crazy is when people keyword stuff the title section without ever adding in the title. On my free directories this really makes me crazy since I feel I am providing a free service the least thing they could do is follow instructions and be respectful....Now I will step off my soapbox and get back to submission reviews....:)

You could do like this directory www.innermobiles.com

I have a bot on it (www.innermobiles.com) and it reduces spam by rejecting MFA sites, content less sites and others!

I got only 286 submissions till date! (It was started a month ago )

When other directory owners that are also DP members choose to spam our web directory with unpaid submissions to unrelated categories on multiple occasions.

    Pathetic.

recp. there is really no point in this option, a very large percentage of pages where your link is placed is not linked at all from main page or any page on a website, it will have 100's of links so wont help you at all. I would highly recommend you remove this option

Spam used to annoy me as I used to get plenty of sites selling viagra and fake rolex watches. I had a mod installed and anyone using certain words cannot now submit to the directory, which means I no longer have to review and delete them any more!

Many people submit to the incorrect category, which is annoying!

My gripe is respected directory owners which are also DP members keyword stuffing their titles and descriptions when submitting to my directory, yet are strictly against it in their own submission guidelines.

    It has to be between:

    a) People that completely ignore the submission guidelines spam away and then complain they have not been accepted. What do they expect for free?

    b) People that have been told via a rejection email or in additional emails why their site was rejected i.e. no contact information, they promptly resubmit with the same error. We explain again and reject the site, they resubmit for a 3rd time still without fixing the error.

We now run a 3 strike system, that's to say you get 3 attempts to submit a site then after that the script won't let the site be submitted, this keeps things a little more manageable.
