Al-Qaida urges Pakistanis to revolt against Musharraf and calls for Jihad

DUBAI: Al-Qaida on Thursday urged Pakistanis to revolt against President Pervez Musharraf following the storming of the Red Mosque in Islamabad, in an audiotape posted on the Internet.

"I call upon the Ulama (Muslim clergy) in Pakistan.... Musharraf and his hunting dogs have tarnished your honour in service of the crusades and the Jews," the group's second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, said in the recording, after stating that he was speaking on the "occasion of the criminal aggression" on the mosque.

The recording was hosted on a website known to publish Al-Qaida statements.

"If you do not revolt, Musharraf will annihilate you. Musharraf will not stop until he uproots Islam from Pakistan," Zawahiri said.

"Muslims in Pakistan: no salvation for you except through Jihad (holy fight). Rigged elections and politics will not help you.... You should now support the mujahedin (holy warriors) in Afghanistan," he said.

"Are there no honourable men in Pakistan?" he added. Pakistani troops yesterday cleared the last militants from the Red Mosque in Islamabad after two days of intense fighting that left at least 82 people dead, including 73 militants, and turned the capital into a battleground.

Commandos killed the final hardcore of rebels who fought to the death in tunnels and bunkers beneath the living quarters of their chief, pro-Taliban cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi, who was shot dead late on Tuesday.

Musharraf ordered the assault after talks with Ghazi to free the women and children allegedly held during the siege collapsed. The siege itself left 24 people dead, including two soldiers.

So it's started already, call for Jihad in Pakistan, that means more bloodbath and terrorist attacks. I think its going to be a rough time for fellow Pakistani people.

The goal is to take control of a government that possesses nuclear weapons, if they can do this by killing a leader, it is quicker and cheaper than building a weapons program.

If they ever took control, it would spell disaster not just for Pakistan but in many ways the entire world. I believe that if Al-Qaida and Taliban had nuclear weapons, America would rank very high on their "hit" list. I am grateful the Pakistani government and people of Pakistan do not want to support the extremists.

General parvez musharraff got the pakistani army to attack militants hiding in the LAL MASJID..in a full fledged military operation...
I support his decision and i think it was wise on his behalf to have carried out that operation..
You want to know why the terrorists are so aggressive...and pick up guns even if someone steals a cigarette of theirs?
Check this video which clearly advocates retaliation against Musharraff just cause he got militants shot down..!!

My computer is really old, but I was finally able to watch the whole thing.
I think Al-Qaida and the Taliban just stand for death and destruction, they are not for islam but for themselves. They want Pakistan to overthrow their own country so they can take it over and make it a Taliban hell hole. They manipulate weak people into thinking they are doing something for Allah, when in reality it is not for their god, but for the power of Al-Qaida. Al-Qaida just wants to get Pakistans nuclear weapons so that they can have more power. In the video, he made comments like, "Die honorably in the fields of jihad" and "Unless you go forth he will punish you with a painful punishment." :(

I agree with the above posts.

Terrorism have nothing to do with Islam and Islam have nothing to do with Terrorism. Anyone using name of Islam, Allah, Jihad for his own acts is simply misleading the world and trying to get innocent Muslims fall in their damn trap of terrorism.

And secondly, what I understand from terrorists' actions against some of the western countries is a comeback and reaction of the small wars, bombing, invasions that US (and allieds) have been doing to their countries.

Its is their revenge, nothing related to Islam.

    For example:

UK had not seen severe terrorists attacks before they decided to join US in invasions to other countries. UK is way .. yes way less secure than it used to be.

Pakistan had NEVER seen suicide bombings in our country (and being a Pakistani, I know), and things like Lal Masjid before ... unless we decided to help US in Afghanistan invasion.

So, terrorists are taking revenge from UK, Pakistan and from other countries .. like they have been doing with US.

    One lesson, I have learned.

Invade others or help the invader and become target of the terrorists. No matter what religion you are on.

US have been invading others, and they are target of terrorism. UK, Pakistan etc. recently started ... so they recently started seeing suicide bombers and stuff.

God Bless UK and Pakistan for walking on footsteps of US.

    Thank you United States.

Its the reaction of our help to you in Afghanistan invasion. We started following your footsteps to bomb others and help in bombing. We must see the suicidebombs, Lal Masjid things and bloodbaths in our country.

    Thank you again.

UK should also Thank you for making them less and less secure, for making them terrorists target next to US'.

Any UK guys? Thank to them. :(

Firstly, Jihad does not mean Holy fight. It means struggle of good against evil. Any sort of struggle against evil is Jihad, physical or psychological.

Secondly, the majority of Muslims in Pakistan are not suckers that we are moved by terrorists. Almost all Islamic scholars condemned the campaign of the Ghazi brothers.

Thirdly, Musharraf is considered a sucker in some regards. But that does not mean that we should revolt against him. That means we should make sure that the next leader is a good one.

I am afraid that majority of people in any country are not terrorist, but they still suffer.

Even if only 100 youths follow that message, there will be 100 new Ghazis. And with AQ backing them up the situation will be worse.

    I hope it never happens.

Cant you provide a certain solid link instead of random worthless google searches?
This is a rumor I'd say. just another word of mouth on air stories.

Controlling media to suppress specific news is a bullshit theory, there are all types of news in media. the Media is full with Anti-America, Anti-bush and anti-CIA news.

If nuclear weapons get into the hands of terrorists in Pakistan, Then pakistan is the next target for the US :). Pakistan does not have high range missiles to reach USA.
